HOW TO PRAY SCRIPTURES
How to pray scriptures
- First thing you want to do is read a Bible passage.
let's start with Hebrews 2:1-4
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
Once you finish reading, you have to make sure that you actually understand what you just read. Because it is going be hard to pray with the scripture if you don't understand the passage you just read.
- Interpreting the passage
From the Bible passage above, what I understand is nobody deliberately drifts away when it comes to being a Christian. What it looks like is that we are not anchored in Jesus and we slowly start drifting.
This is also speaking of the fact that the law of Moses was delivered by an angel. The people back then really paid attention to the angel that spoke and the message that it delivered. So, how much more should we pay attention because Jesus is superior to angels. In the New testament Jesus had come and he has given us a new message and a new covenant.
And so how much more should we pay attention to Jesus when he speaks. If the message spoken through angels was legally binding. It also goes on to talk about just punishment and how it is dangerous to hear God's word and reject it and neglect it.
- The final step is once you get understanding to what you just read is to go ahead and write your prayers or just simply pray it.
Incorporate things like:
- Summary of the passage
- Reference to verses
- Praising God
- Asking for guidance and others as the spirit leads.
This are just the simple ways to pray scriptures.
It is a three step:
- Read
- Interpret
- Pray
You take what you read in God's word and repeat it back to him with understanding and clarity of what it means in prayer.
