My Thoughts on "I, Tonya": A Powerful and Emotional Movie

Hi there everyone, I'm back again to share with you one of the interesting movies I had the chance of watching.

So I just caught a movie titled “I, Tonya,” My word, it was an experience. It’s entirely about this genius ice skater; her name is Tonya Harding.

The film goes back to 1991 when Tonya did something truly incredible – she became the first American woman to execute this insane maneuver known as a triple axel at a major competition. Just imagine how awesome that would have been.

But then 1994 goes down the pan really badly. There were some very bad things done by Jeff, Tonya’s ex-husband and other people who they are with.

Another figure skater called Nancy Kerrigan was being targeted as well, though she too wished to go to the Olympics in Atlanta. It looked like something from one of those movies but it happened in real life. And due to all this commotion, Nancy had to withdraw from the big tournament.

It was as if Tonya’s life in the movie was a complete and total rollercoaster.

There were moments when I felt really happy for her, like when she was skating so beautifully. However, there were times when I felt really sad, like when her mom was so mean to her and when everything started falling apart because of the scandal.

One thing that struck me while watching “I, Tonya” is that things are not always black and white. Tonya was neither hero nor villain—she had her own struggles and flaws just like any other human being.

Of course, what happened with Nancy Kerrigan was wrong but the movie made me realize that there is more to the story than one event alone.

Also, the movie’s acting was really dope. One of the great performances of Margot Robbie as Tonya was in this movie. I had different feelings during the movie such as happiness, sadness and also anger among others.

Moreover, Allison Janey convincingly played Tonya’s mother who was tough and fearsome but you could still feel her affection for Tonya albeit it being twisted.

“It is crucial to remember though that “I, Tonya” is just a film and even if it claims to be based on a true story.” That is why some things might have been exaggerated or changed for it to seem more exciting. Yet we can still get something out of it.

I thought about how complex life can be after I watched “I, Tonya”. This movie has made me know that individuals are molded by their past and the type of people they get exposed to apart from their actions.

Furthermore, it brought home the point that each person needs a second chance notwithstanding the type of mistakes they have committed.

Therefore, yes, “I, Tonya” is totally worth your time. It’s a wild ride with plenty of ups and downs that will make you laugh, cry and maybe even reconsider what you think you know about the entire Tonya Harding affair.
