I Made A Crochet Beanie
At this point my new name should be “the head piece lady” I think I've made quite a few recently and yeah I'm loving it.
Hello and welcome to another episode of “what did Doreen make” Today's piece [project] is a gift I made for my significant other.
As a fiber artist I think the one thing we do the most is make the Gifts we want to give to people that are special to us. I find it easy to walk in and buy a random hamper for a loved one. It doesn't take time planning or anything. Just buy and go.
But I did what works better for me. I made and Curated and lt me tell you it takes a lot. Gifting a man is not so easy. They are getting the Gifts and gift boxes. And there is keeping the truth away from them so the surprise won't be ruined but uts all worth it when the excitement comes in the end
He has a thing for stealing [not literally] my beanies. Hence I only have cat ear beanies which are still being threatened 😅 anyways the yarn I used on a regular basis is a 3 ply yarn. And yes with beanies it takes kinda forever to complete it since it can get less fun along the way.
I mostly use this 5 ply yarn to make beanies since it is way thicker than the other and as a lazy crocheter I seriously recommend.using this one instead. I started making it and I made it longer than usual. I like when the folded part of the Beanie is a bit thick so it gives extra warmth to the forehead.
I saw this half double crochet ribbed pattern on Pinterest a while back and I thought to myself why not try it out on this project and it came out really smooth so I just went with this pattern instead of the single crochet ribbed stitches I intended to do.
I had so many random thoughts and also I made this for valentines. It got lost in my gallery for some reason.
All the time I was making it and showing him progress pictures. He thought I was making it for a client and it was funny.
I almost told the truth a couple of times but I held out and got finished with the project first. Told him when I went to send it out to the client obviously he didn't know it was his. Till it got to him and I got a video call days after.
He was excited and could not believe that he never even considered that it was his among others. That I managed to get him this time 😅😅 well I did and it felt pretty good.
The supplies that I used in making this
5.0mm hook
Stitch markers
1 100g acrylic yarn
Scissors
Measurement Tape
Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
