🎀 Handmade with Love: The Ruffle Hat I Made for My Sister

#needlework

A true gift from the heart. Being a crocheter the Gifts I vive out to the people I treasure are the ones I make, it's not because of pride or just because. I feel its a product of my time and hard work and it is beautiful to give out gifts you fully invested in. That's my theory though I don't know how it works for others.

It was my eldest sisters birthday sometime ago and I haven't really made her anything mostly because of time and I sort of felt bad about it. So This time I was going to be intentional about it.

Few weeks to her birthday I made a post referencing a ruffle hat I had made a very long time ago talking about how the work aged well or something I can't fully remember, she replied saying it'll make an excellent birthday gift. I laughed it off so she won't suspect a thing or that I was working in it for her.

Keeping surprises from your siblings is so hard especially when you tall about almost everything so I was a character in mission impossible that whole period just so I don't yap to her and ruin the whole surprise

Before she commented on that post I didn't know what to make, more like I knew what to make but couldn't make her choice so her commenting was the light at the end of the tunnel for me and best believe I got to work that same day.

I never thought duplicating my own work would be hard but boyy was I wrong I was in for a ride, mostly because I wanted to make the exact same thing i had on the image but I had Zero patterns to follow and it was quite the challenge.

Knowing where to switch the colors, how many rows I need and how many increases. It almost blew my mind away at some point and I was staring at the original image the whole time I was making this.

Pink and orange seems strange but ceichet has a way of making even the very strange colors blend perfectly and I was loving the outcome [that's after I almost lost it ] my sister is dark skinned so the orange would look very good on her.

A little note. This ruffle hat was made out of double crochet stitches but the make it look like mesh I inserted the yarn int9 the spaces and not on the stitches themselves and it gave this pretty pattern.

My favourite part as always was the rufflessssssss. I love ruffles it just kept forming and felt like cold water after a hot day.
N9w to the best part of all this her reaction. It was so cute she was screaming or squealing I dunno but she sounded so cuteeeeeee. Send me a picture and was like thank you thank you thank you.

It felt good honestly. The thrill in giving is always the excitement from the receiver at least it is for me.
Handmade gifts just hit different, the time, the though, the brain power and the love poured into every stitch. Perfect.

The supplies that I used in making this
4.5mm hook
Stitch markers
Acrylic yarns
Scissors
Measurement Tape

Ps: these pictures belong to me and we’re taken with my mobile device.
