Celebrations and changes.

“We are approaching the "Holy Week". From an open-minded standpoint. Please share with us a memory you have of celebrating this holiday. What, if anything, has changed in your adult life. That was a part of your adolescent holiday festivities? Why?”

Growing up my family was not 100% celebrating Easter the way you would see in movies where you can see easter eggs, Easter egg hunts and Easter bunnies everywhere. Well I'm Nigerian I don't think there are up to a 100 people that do those types of easter celebrations here. And if they are, I probably haven't seen it yet.

In my family we would go to church on good Friday [I'm Christian] pray, praise and listen to sermons then go to church on Easter Sundays and Easter Mondays are usually public holidays so we stay in.l and see movies together.

Now I do not have a clear memory of how I spent it with my parents and extended families but I remember how I spent it with my siblings.

This period we would sit together and watch movies or cartoons. We made use of a decoder back then and we'd sit and see Easter cartoons and movies. Lol. I remember hiding my face whenever the whipping and crucifixion scenes happened. It used to make me feel sad but when it got to the resurrection to rejoicing scenes I would get so giddy about it.

Now things are a bit different or very different I dunno. As a person my relationship with God has grown and Easter period hits differently. Serves as a reminder that someone sacrificed himself for a person like me. Serves as a reminder that I am loved and treasured by the one who is more important than everyone in the world.

My siblings and I don't sit together watching Easter cartoons and movies anymore. We all live in different apartments that are far from each other. The one thing that has not changed is going to church and Sunday and dancing and rejoicing that “He Is Risen”

Your first paragraph Carries a lot of truth.
It was research that I did that made me to know that there's any relationship between eggs and Easter celebrations. We weren't just into it that far

Change is constant. But one thing that has never changed is family quality time, as mentioned by you earlier.
