Nottingham Forest Weekly - 15 September 24

OK, wake me up from this dream!

Talking to a few fans before yesterdays match the view was if we didn’t lose 3-0 it was a good result, that all changed at the final whistle.

For the first time in over 50 years - yes FIFTY - Nottingham Forest won at Anfield. I wasn’t even born!

The team selection from Nuno Espírito Santo was inspired. Looking to contain the Liverpool midfield and assuming that it would be a damage limitation exercise perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised to see Ryan Yates, James Ward-Prowse and Elliot Anderson as a 3 behind Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood. Ex-Liverpool player Nico Williams also made way for Alex Moreno in the starting line up.

Both teams went into the match undefeated, Liverpool hadn’t conceded a goal this season. After a first half that saw a couple of chances for Liverpool and a head holding moment for Matz Sels when he nearly dropped a tame chance into his own goal but after the break Forest became more adventurous, bringing on Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi who would eventually link up after a quick break for CHO to cut inside and curl the ball inside Alissons left post!

When required the Forest defence of Aina, Murillo, Milenkovic and Moreno put their bodies on the line to make blocks and tackles, overall a great performance from the team and great tactics from the manager.

To top the week off I also had Callum Hudson-Odoi in my @hivefpl team!

The Reds remain undefeated and head to the south coast next week for a match against Brighton who currently sit 1 place above Forest on goal difference.
