Pro musician and lifestyle

Walk with me as I share a little piece of my thoughts and musings, it's going to be informative and educating.
So last Friday i got a gig to play the drums at an indoor gospel music concert and yeah I was excited for it, another day at the office for me.

I did my usual practice routine,stretched my hands,worked out and drank enough water ( that's like my thing before I go for any gig)
I made sure I ate enough food because being a pro drummer requires a whole of strength and energy.
That Friday evening I arranged my kit, drumsticks and my in-ear monitors

. It wasn't really a long journey from home but the heavy traffic in Lagos state made it otherwise and yeah what was I thinking 😀 it's Friday night in one of the most vibrant cities in Africa.
I arrived at the venue where the concert was held and did the necessary signing in and documentation. Soon I set out to couple together my kits and it was one of my favorites drum brand TAMA so I knew I'm definitely going to have a great time at work.

Exactly 9pm soundcheck kicked off, this is so important before going into the main event. During soundcheck the FoH, microphones,musical instruments,stage output and feedback speakers were all set and mixed by the audio engineer.
Soon the concert officially started and they were various performances from different gospel artists.
It all started as a normal music event for me where I just have to do my job and move on but things soon became intensed.
During one of the musical sessions I got so into it that I felt purpose and fulfilling,I literally couldn't hold myself anymore and I realized music isn't just work or profession for me it is now a way of life.

It was indeed at intensed atmosphere and I could sense the heavy ambience and soul relishing scenarios that was taking at the time.
Music isn't just work for me it is now a way of communicating a message, feeling,an idea and insight to a set of people. One thing I learned is that people should be passionate about what they do in every sector that way it's not just a profession but a lifestyle.
Now the question is this; are you passionate about what you do? Is it a way of life or just a means to get funds?
As hivers we should be passionate about the growth of this ecosystem even down to various communities.
