At last I know good strategy and freedom in war games!

Hello friends, I hope you are enjoying video games lately in my case I have set myself the task of fulfilling some of my dreams like trying some war games that already came out years ago, but still claim to promise much for that time and yet at this time are still pioneers in some mechanics that we now see in current video games, the game I'm talking about this time is Medal of Honor: Airborne.

Medal of Honor: Airborne was released in the year 2007 year in which I was just being born xd... although after a little research I discovered that obviously Call of Duty 1 came out many years before to be more exact in 2003, which clears my doubt of how many years both war sagas take each other because both are pioneers in the genre.

However, I considered that this instalment of Medal of Honour to be released the same year that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came out, even so it has some innovative details for that time.

To start the campaign mode I do before the typical tutorial to learn how to land on specific points on the map, which gives me the impression that it will be a strategic video game, as soon as I step on land.

The plane jumping is frenetic and unfriendly, and from the beginning you are given to understand that it will be a chaotic place where you go the truth very well achieved in my opinion...

I start the attack through the city controlled by the Germans, while playing I find it a little difficult to adapt to the gameplay, since the targeting system is very different from other video games, but still after being able to understand it turns out to be quick to cover and shoot at the same time.

As I see several points and objectives on the map I start this mission by going to the palace in the centre of the city, here I realize that the surprise factor is very good, since the enemies know how to come out randomly and even cleverly, but I will touch on that point later.

Focusing on the graphics, I must tell you that they are very acceptable for that time, obviously that same year was far surpassed by Cod 4, even so I consider to be a video game set in World War II, it does generate that kind of investment and strategy in combat something very different from cod, since this is usually more unbridled combat and with an epic story.

And maybe you ask yourself: Why do I compare this video game with the Cod saga from the beginning? Well, I remind you that both titles were released that same year, both focused on war, but I consider that Medal of Honor: Airborne was overshadowed by Cod 4, since it gave something fresh and new to the genre, even so they ignored some new mechanics that Medal of Honor brought.

Obviously, I had to make several attempts to master the mechanics of this game, since after respawning I realized that everything changed on the battlefield, as the AI of the enemies I think is much more polished than previous games of that time, as I consider that they are more strategic and are constantly moving around the city at which point I discover that I can literally do the mission as I see fit being able to move freely throughout the place.

With this clear I decide to explore some more blind spots of the enemy and I can also ride on the rooftops of the city being able to make some surprise attacks, in short in this title is also worth playing chaotic and stealth mode if you want.

Being able to move freely around the map is very interesting, because I feel that the story mode is not so linear, although in the end the objective is the same.

As you can see, I managed to sneak through the roof, and then I was able to blow up the first enemy artillery cannon.

After that I ran out of that place to find the other objectives of the city, and I began to vary on my way, entering some houses of the place; however, I was very quiet, and I swear that I scared, because suddenly some soldiers came out hidden in that hamlet hahaha.

The story mode returns and we realize that the enemy improved their tanks and come with machine guns, so I must surround them to eliminate them, and here comes into play another gameplay mechanics that I loved, since here I was closer to my team and logically noticed the behavior of them, for this case is a more realistic and balanced war, because as you should know in most war games seems that the war is all against you despite having your partner next to you seems to be totally invisible.

A soldier hiding on the second floor of the house tells me I should help him with an enemy sniper, so I find a new rifle with scope for my arsenal.

And to culminate I discover one of the last mechanics as I advance I find achievements or medals and also usually find some incentives to improve my weapons, which I love, because then I have some progress apart from fulfilling the missions.

Obviously, it is important for me to tell you that the strength of this game itself is the gameplay and strategy, and the freedom to play all over the map that it offers, but in terms of story mode it is less relevant, although in the end I am sure that the developers were simply looking for a good gameplay.

I didn't get chance to play many war games, I would have loved to play them even as a kid haha. (I was shooting pedestrians in the games like Vice City, how much worse it would have been?)

For being released almost two decades ago, the graphics are not too bad for its time.

Yes there are games that you never get to try, however, I have been determined to try the most desired video games since I was a kid, although I am currently 18 years old, if I consider that I have missed some classic and cult games that I need to try without hesitation.

A classic. Medal of Honor was undoubtedly one of the most special games and series on PS2 and later. I think it's a defunct franchise now. But this game and the other PS2 games are AWESOME, one of my favorites from that era, along with Modern Warfare 4. Truly an awesome game, thanks for sharing.

Thanks to you also for supporting my experience with this game, unfortunately it is true what you say, since medal of honor is not what it once was, in fact there are no more deliveries of it, because they made many mistakes in wanting to evolve to compete with COD.

It's amazing to know these games have been around for a while and I spoke about it in my recent blog that gamers still feel nostalgic by going back to play old games.

Thanks for commenting mate, if I consider that sometimes nostalgia got the better of me and I decide to go back to those old titles, I'd like to read your post, so I'm on my way xd....
