Drama Review: 'Kabhi Maa Kabhi Tum'

Ladies and gentlemen, this time I have brought a thrilling review of the super hit drama serial Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum written by Farhat Ishtiaq. Basically, I saw the teaser long ago but I waited to get all the episodes ready for my weekend. There are three OST songs sung by different singers and aptly fitting all the situations.
Plot of the Drama
The story of the drama is based on the life circumstances of Karachi boy Mustafa, who is a passionate gamer (gives me nostalgic vibes of 2017 when I was managing a gaming community) but fails to impress his family and society with his talent. Sharjeena, on the opposite side, is a brilliant student who wants to pursue her career but has all the guts to sustain a happy family. The villain of the society is Adeel and his wife Rubab, for whom Adeel rejected Sharjeena the day before the marriage, and to save the honour of her parents, Sharjeena decides to marry Mustafa. There are a lot of twists where the accidental marriage proves to be a misunderstanding drama, but the times when Mustafa makes Sharjeena happy win over the misunderstanding.
The Families:
The role of the family is depicted as a bit middle-class greedy, specifically their mother. She prefers money over happiness and respect. This quality of hers not only destroys family union but also makes them homeless. Sharjeena’s mother, on the other side, is a humble lady who wants to make her daughter rejoice in each moment of life, no matter if they are in crisis. She supports her to stand with her husband through thick and thin. Fathers, on the other side, are portrayed as the ATM machine who don’t have the right to speak, like if they take strict decisions, their wives make them guilty for that.
Toxic made for the toxic
Now I am going to disclose the villains of the drama. Hehe, well Rubab did a fair job with her character. Maybe she was raised in the same manner too, lol. Purchasing a husband and making him obedient is a common job in elite class. But this time middle-class husband Adeel took full advantage of trust and manipulated his wife in all the ways he could. I just thought he was smarter than Rubab so he deserved to have money and attention, but what he did to his family was wrong. He went to that job with all of his own struggle, but to ditch his wife isn’t justified. Maybe it’s the routine work in that class. No one showed sympathy to Adeel, but somehow he was insulted abruptly. Well, the fashion of Rubab, her British accent and long hair must be appreciated at least, apart from the revenge she took.
Love Birds Mustafa and Sharjeena:
Now talking about Mustafa, I felt it’s the same life of each middle or younger boy whose big brother is the star kid of their parents. He suffers from a lot of miseries no matter if he is available to anyone with zero attitude. He learns how to absorb everything, how to show loyalty to friends and family as he knows their value. His way of struggle was long but not alone, as Sharjeena did mind-blowing work to support him. He was ditched for the efforts he did in gaming just because he was not cunning like Josef. But Mustafa and Sharjeena proved to be an excellent partnership. This shows that country fellows support talent in a better manner than others.
Faces like Sharjeena are common in such families where maturity is the priority by parents. A bibliophile knows how to keep the relationship pure no matter if the toxicity is self-burning.
The Cute Moment
Sharjeena and Mustafa had a weekend spent in a rainy environment, in the company of pakoras and a lot of bike rides. The light-gone scene when she made him realize how alone she is without him. When they both started renovating their home, from purchasing plants to mopping the floor, they proved to be made for each other.
Last but not the least, this 32-episode drama is available on ARY Digital YouTube channel, along with millions of views and superb comments. Don’t forget to listen to the marvelous songs Sajna Da Til Toriya, Chal Deay Tum Kahan, and the title song Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. I will be bringing another drama review next time, so stay tuned.
