My Life Journal: Sun-Kissed but Dizzy - My Struggle with Vertigo Attack

How are you, #Hiveians? I am wishing that everyone is having a good day and is in the pink of health.

Struggling with Vertigo Attack

I twerked in bed for the last two nights because I was having trouble falling asleep. I went to bed around midnight as I needed to talk with my brother, who was alone in their home and was having a fever. I awoke around 5:00am because the guy who maintains our garden told me that he would arrive at 5:30am. My vision was spinning, and I was having a vertigo attack. I stayed in bed for a while before I rose to open the gate. It's a sunny morning, and I'm supposed to wash some clothes that have piled up in the hamper or go grocery shopping. But none of those activities are appealing to me. Then I decided to do some light stretching to perk myself up.

After a few stretches, I drank a warm chocolate drink ("sikwate' - I seldom drink coffee due to my acid reflux) and ate 2 slices of raisin bread. After my simple breakfast, I took my maintenance medicine for hypertension and vertigo as well. This has become my daily routine. Every morning after Thanksgiving, I prayers for a new day, exercise, and sometimes do yoga or meditation; I take a bath before performing house chores, and as the clock ticks at 6am, I sit in front of my laptop, fingers poised over the keyboard, and begin my online article writing and editing job. My morning, on the other hand, went satisfactorily though I still have a slight vertigo attack after taking the medicine.

The weeds in the yard have grown significantly taller, I asked the gardener to tidy up and remove the weeds so that the surroundings would be light and the plants could breathe. Before 10:30 in the morning, I went downstairs and brought cold water to give to the person I hired to clean the garden and to supervise if the area was cleaned properly. By the way, when I hire someone to clean the yard, I'll pay him in bulk. He had already cleaned a large area so I told him to go home and be back at 4pm to continue his work later because the scorching heat of the sun is unbearable. If I feel hot when inside the house, what about him who is directly exposed to sunlight? This is also one of the causes of my vertigo attack the sweltering heat of the sun.

My mother and I shared a hearty lunch, and after 30 minutes, I chose to take a restorative power nap to alleviate my vertigo attack. Unmindful of the humid weather, I got the grip on finding rest to combat the dizziness that can be so overwhelming. I am tried and true to my health, and I have exercises prescribed by my doctor to control my vertigo. I’ve learned to adjust my gaze and position to minimize the impact of these episodes. In most cases, the attacks target my right side, so I consciously choose where to look to foster stability. After sleeping from 1 to 4 pm, I awoke refreshed, and the vertigo had subsided. Plus, the garden is now clean of weeds, and the plants can now breathe, which is delightful to see. Grateful for this relief!

Vertigo can be so cruel. Making the simplest movements feel like the world is tilting out of control. You chose to stretch, to breathe, to meet your body with kindness. That decision, to move gently instead of pushing through, is brave. 😍

My Buddy Doc loves me so much that he taught me an exercise when vertigo attacks.🥰🥰🥰 He checks on me whenever I have vertigo. This started when my son turned 20 years old (he was physically and psychologically disabled). I always have sleepless nights and stress at the same time because there are times when he'll never sleep, especially on the full moon. Now that he's gone it seldom attacks.

Oh! That's good to hear that your Buddy Doc shows you love through presence and care teaching you how to cope, and being there when you need someone most. That kind of support is rare and precious. Be gentle with yourself, you deserve that tenderness now. And I hope, in quiet moments, you feel his peace surrounding you.😍❤️

We are in an LDA dear. We always have a video cam every time he's off from duty. At least through video, he can advise me on what to do. Yun nga lang may kasamang sermon 🤣🤣🤣 He said: You are a stubborn lady, I told you not to sleep late and be sure to have your siesta...blah, blah, blah...

Haha! That’s love right there, served with a side of sermon. 😅 It's actually really sweet that he takes the time to check in and remind you to take care of yourself, even if it comes with a mini lecture.😍

Sorry to hear you have a hard time with vertigo. I also experience this, I can feel your feelings, how hard it is. But it's great to know that you still managed to take care of things and look after yourself, too. I wish you feel much better soon! And take it easy and get rest when you can!

Oh, sorry, dear, for the late reply. I was adjusting myself to my vision. Before vertigo lasted for 1 day, but nowadays, it takes two days and a half, and I have a hard time, though I could control it, turning myself into a position where I could not feel the dizziness.

This is another challenge for me. I cannot finish my editing task because of the lack of clarity due to my vision. But I will not give up. I am the storm and I can weather it all with God's guidance.

Don’t worry at all, ate @diosarich. I’m very sorry to hear that you're going through such a tough time with your vision and vertigo. This is very challenging for you, but your strength and determination are more than what. you go through. You are right, you are the storm, and I admire your spirit. And please take all the time you need to rest and recover. Health must come first. Sending you love, prayer, and healing completely.

This is simply a hard nut to crack for a pearly-haired lady. When you reach this age, there are lots of challenges to face. Your vision, some illnesses cropping up, your sleeping hours, your biological system, etc, etc. This is a lodged in one's brain situation of an elderly. I have to be tough and never give up. We must not give up on the struggles and challenges of life. I have to ride the tides, or else I will not win, and I will not be able to continue my goals and mission in life for my family, loved ones, and myself.

I am a health-buff person as I am a kidney donor and I always choose the right food to eat. Honestly, I do have cheat days at times, but my Buddy Doctor always checks on me so I am aware of what I am eating. I am a water drinker as well. I do not drink soda, energy drinks, and the like. Thanks for swinging by @kimburlee.

I am grateful to you, @nicolebanilad, for your admiration for my small contribution to the community. I am one of those writers like you who share my experiences and activities. I may not be able to write content every day because of my work, but whenever I share, I make sure that everyone can learn something. I don't care if I get a lot of UpVotes, what matters is that I have contributed something that can be learned for everyone.

When you get older, different illnesses come out.🤩 This is my challenge in life now, but I don't want to be quashed by the changes I feel in my body. I am strong because God created me to be a strong and powerful woman like the rock of Gibraltar and not to be beaten by any kind of battle in life. Thanks for fetching around my post.

Vertigo can truly ruin our day to day activities. It hampers all our desired actions making life very difficult.
I have it too, the last time I had it, Ai was tied to my bed for almost a month and it really sickens me knowing that I am a burden to others.

Regular exercise and not sleeping late can help to not trigger it.

I love your lawn ate, truly a breath of fresh air.
I pray you are feeling better now.

That's true dear @aideleijoie It's so hard when vertigo attacks. I thank God that I feel slight vertigo. It's still a bad feeling when you open your eyes and your vision is spinning around. There's nothing you can do but close your eyes again and feel it. I try to get myself to a place where I don't feel dizzy. When my vision stops spinning, I slowly get up, sit down, and feel it again when I don't feel dizzy anymore, then I exercise for about 5 minutes. That's what Doc taught me before I stand up and feel myself again.

There are times that I cannot avoid sleeping late at night due to my editing job especially if I have a rushed article to be submitted before the time of the publication.

The lawn and the flowers are my sanctuary, especially in the early morning at sunrise when there are birds on the trees cheerfully chirping their hearts away. They are a beautiful melody in my ears.💖 Thanks for swinging by. God bless.🌷🕊️

I feel you.
I also had vertigo like 5 years ago, and literally the whole world was spinning so fast, and I could not even walk properly. I thought I was going to be okay, I said to myself, just sleep, but although I closed my eyes, my world was still spinning, and I could not take it, so they rushed me to the hospital.
You take care, okay. Eat healthy and be consistent in doing your morning exercise.

I believe that vertigo attacks people who think and do a lot of work. It indeed triggers when we lack sleep, and also because of the sweltering heat of the sun, the bright sunlight stings our eyes, which sometimes gives us headaches, which also causes vertigo as well as the excessive glare from our computer monitors.

I am glad for your concern @luthis26. I do eat healthy food and do my daily exercises, and sometimes a few stretches help a lot. Thanks a lot for swinging by and for the advice as well.

I am a little bit okay now dear @celestyne15. I am grateful for your concern. This is the dilemma of a silver-slated lady; there are more challenges to watch in my health, but I am looking forward to a brighter side of my struggles rather than doing nothing at all.
