Do you have friends who are always talking about camping? In recent years, more and more of my friends have been discussing camping, perhaps because we've all been stuck in big cities for too long. Deep down, we all yearn for days when we can be close to nature, breathing in fresh air. In the modern world, our lives are often limited to the two points of work and home, making it challenging to truly relax. So, why not step outdoors? For friends with kids, camping not only provides excellent educational opportunities but also serves as a nature classroom, offering children profound lessons. It's a chance to have meaningful conversations and interactions, rediscovering intimacy with our little ones.
Despite the enthusiasm of many friends for camping, I personally don't share the same longing. Maybe I've heard too much about it. One day, while having dinner with friends, we stumbled upon an event related to camping in a nearby square. They rushed over to check it out, and there were various camping vehicles on display. Camping involves basic activities like setting up tents in the wilderness or camping sites, but more advanced options include tent-themed bed and breakfasts. The pinnacle is the "car as a home" camping, where you sleep wherever the car takes you.
Modern living typically revolves around having a bed, air conditioning, and electricity, and that's usually sufficient. For young individuals or small families, it seems like you could replace buying a house with purchasing a camping car. You could use the camping car for commuting to work during weekdays and exploring places during evenings or weekends. You could even sleep or relax inside, grabbing meals from outside or preparing simple ones inside the car. The sales pitch at the square made it sound quite appealing. However, when we inquired about the prices of camping cars, we were taken aback. Even the cheapest ones were around 2.5 million Taiwanese dollars. While it might be slightly more affordable than a house, it's still not a decision to be made lightly.
I, personally, remained uninterested in camping, and as my friend's eyes lit up, I played the role of the brake, quickly pulling him away from the square. Ideals may be lofty, but reality is quite stark.
