The Gorge - Evil lurks at the botton of an abyss

Greetings friends, I hope you are well. Today I want to talk about a movie that I have seen recently and the truth at first I liked it a lot, I found it super interesting and then I concentrated on watching it, I'm talking about the “Secret Abyss” is starring Anya Taylor Joy ka which we have seen in many famous productions such as Max Mac, Lady of gambit etc and also famous actor Miles Teller and has been seen in films like Top Gun: Maverick and Divergent.

This movie was released this year 2025, it is of the sci-fi horror type and keeps you a bit expectant, since at the beginning it doesn't give too many details about the characters and starts in a sudden way, the thing is that this couple of actors have in the movie a quite peculiar and frivolous job, they are super gifted snipers. So, if you are a fan of horror and at the same time of science fiction, this is for sure your movie, it has a duration of 127 minutes and it is American.

More than summarize I want to tell you about my impressions and a little of them so you can see if you are interested and you can go to see it, is a delivery what I liked because the character of Anya, which is named Drasa is a girl who in short would be a mercenary who is entrusted with a mission in Russia, She says goodbye to her father who is very sick with cancer and tells him to take advantage of this moment because it will be the last time since he decided to end his life and thus avoid suffering too much by chance of the disease, so this scene is very touching.

On the other hand, the actor Miles Teller, his character is called Levi, he is also a sniper, but he is retired, he is lonely and has no family, one day he is called and assigned a mission in a very remote and inhospitable place. Both Dresa and Levi, who do not know each other, have no idea where this place is located and know very little to say nothing.

The case is that they are told that they will be a year guarding a site, and both characters are sent by different governments. The day arrived where they are sent, we can see Levi preparing for the relay, he is thrown in a place and has to get to a certain place and is where he will meet a soldier who was a year ago on the site, this explains all the work, shows him everything is a very scary abyss and there is a second separate place on the other side of the mountain and in this is the envoy of the other country that comes to be Drasa, The soldier tells him that it is forbidden to have direct contact and that he must concentrate on his vigilance, Levi is intrigued since many military men have passed through there and it is not much what the soldier tells him only that they are possibly at the gates of hell.

The time came, he gives the place to Levi and leaves, then something terrible happens with the soldier, this gives to understand that what is in that place surpasses anything and is bigger than the life of any person. Thus begin some very particular challenges for these characters, where life and love between them prevails, well yes, of course that resurfaces some curiosity on the part of Levi and Drasa follows the current so both meet and become inseparable against all odds, This without knowing the danger to which they are subjected because of that depth begins to emerge some deformed creatures that seem to be taken from a horror movie, what was thought to be hell turned out to be the result of experiments made by humans, which in the end is not surprising since the worst things created come from our earthly hands.

The inevitable happens and both fall into the abyss where they realize that there are terrible things and that these people who sent them are not from the government but people with ulterior motives, not only to contain what lives there but there is a greater interest, to create super soldiers.

I liked the movie and found it interesting when they said the entrance to hell, but it turned out to be something very different and I was a little disappointed because to be honest I wanted to see something different. There was also a lot of interest for the actors to end up in love which I found annoying since I don't always want to see this in horror movies. There were a lot of scenes that were very accommodating to the plot, but nevertheless it was still salvageable and I was entertained for a good while.

It is a very entertaining movie, I feel it could have done better with the story, and not do something similar to what has been seen in other installments, I would give it a score of 7/10.
