Marriott Maracay Golf Resort, a desire that is still alive

20240514_131816.jpg

I had some difficulties to make this post because the access to the common and external areas of this hotel is restricted, and well, that was a surprise for me because in previous years you could have more access since there was a public pool and in that sense I could walk practically free. However, now there is a big fence that prevents people from approaching, so you can only see the hotel from afar. However, this was not always the case, as the hotel was not in operation before, only the swimming pool was enabled due to budgetary issues. So, in order to gain access I had to request permission from the security personnel who, after consulting with their superiors, allowed me access only to the external areas.

Why didn't it work before? Well, it turns out that after its construction in 1957, at a certain point it was no longer open to the public, in fact, since I was a child I remember that it was always closed, but I had the illusion that at some point it would return to operation because it is an iconic place of the city of Maracay and it seemed sad that it was not being used, every time I attended its beautiful pool it became more evident that it was a structure with many opportunities to shine, plus it is located opposite a famous mountain that is visited by dozens of people daily to exercise.

This is how in 2017 the Marriott hotel chain took over the structure and relaunched in style this place that has a high historical value for those who live here, so since then the old "Hotel Maracay" returned to its beautiful days of glory under the name Marriott Maracay Golf Resort.

Talking about the concrete structure, well, you can see that to some extent it is simple. You can see 3 rectangular structures of which 2 are of the same size while 1 is much smaller. The windows are quite large, in fact, they practically occupy the entire outer wall. The blue details, which can be seen on the windows, convey a very fresh aura to me, in fact, from the pool a beautiful contrast is denoted.

Entrance corridors

The access on foot is through long roofed corridors where there are travel agencies, spa, administrative offices and cleaning rooms. From the first moment you enter these corridors you can appreciate the strong presence of green areas that are quite neat and organized, however, towards the external areas the matter is different. At the main entrance there is a large covered space where the clients' cars and cabs arrive, we can also see a sign with the "Marriott" logo.

Exteriors

The green areas are quite extensive and remarkably populated with mango trees and some palm trees, but there is a particular tree that occupies a large area of the garden, it does not have a main trunk like the others, but has several that extend across a fairly large radius. Perhaps this curious tree has its history, but at the moment I don't know it, I suppose that at some point I will find out.

Now, why the title of the post has that expression?, it turns out that since I was a child I used to go to the pool of this hotel which as I said before was public, at times I would stare at its most beautiful rooms and spaces with the desire that someday it would be operational for me to attend as a customer and enjoy its comfort, will it happen, well, I do not lose hope, at least it is already working and is open to the public. It was a pleasure to share, a hug to all!

HI @dinaaczib, Even from a distance, the exterior of the hotel is attractive because of the blue color. The green plants in the garden outside the hotel clearly have eco-friendly features.

The building has a beautiful design and the hotel areas look well kept, the surroundings and path to the main entrance I love it, it adds freshness to the place, maybe in the near future you can enjoy the hotel pool again. 🌳🌻💐

Greetings!

The design of that hotel is very nice, open, with lots of nature, I have only seen it from the outside. The impressive tree that is in its gardens is a Bengal Fig Tree, also called Magic Tree or Tree of Life, endemic to Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. I remember I took a picture there under its branches a few years ago hehe, greetings!
