Federal Legislative Palace of Venezuela, a place I never thought I would see in person

I don't know if it ever happened to you that for many years you saw on television or internet a place where important things happened in your country and then you had the opportunity to see it in person, well, if that is the case, then surely you will agree with me that it generates a strange feeling. So it happened to me with the Federal Legislative Palace, there have taken place any number of events (mostly negative) that have significantly marked the destinies of this country, perhaps at some point you've heard that Venezuela is a politically unstable country, so to speak, and in that sense in that building have happened decisions that right now a whole nation regrets.
But I am not going to focus this post on the political issue, the buildings are not to blame for the things that happen within its walls, I want to focus on the feelings that it produced in me to see it and the architectural goodness of this palace. The first thing I felt is that it is smaller than I thought, I always saw the dome that is in the center of the building quite imposing, but seeing it in person I felt that it was reduced. I also found it quite strange that it is located in a place where many people pass through, I thought it would be heavily guarded by security agents, there were only a few around, but where there is no access is the inner part.

As you could see in the previous photos, the building has no significant bars or barriers, so it gives the impression that anyone can freely approach at least a couple of meters from the walls. It is also noted that the building is in optimal state of maintenance, it looks freshly painted and restored, although I don't actually remember ever seeing it in bad condition on television. The square and round columns make a very interesting contrast, some are embedded in the walls while others support part of the structure.

The central part of the building is perhaps the most striking, the great dome (I think it is called) beautifully crowns a golden shield and two characters whose origin I do not know. Behind the round columns and the two characters, we see a series of windows of similar size. At the top of the dome we can see the Venezuelan flag, unfortunately at that time there was no breeze, so we could not see it waving as it should.

Towards the other side of the building the aspect is very similar, but crossing the south avenue 4, we can see other architectural elements that vary with respect to what we have seen before. Immediately across there is a rather large triangular element, this is located above a large door and several columns perfectly spaced. Continuing along the avenue, we can see several windows that seem to be administrative and an entrance that may be the main one, I am not sure, but as I did not have access to 100% of the building I could not verify it.

So you could see images of one of the most important buildings in the country, its good appearance and physical condition do it justice considering the great history of this palace and the large number of events that have occurred there. For me it was shocking to see this building in person, to be frank I idealized it more imposing, but it does not detract from what it is, an architectural work of which we can be proud of those who live in this country. It was a pleasure to share with all of you, see you.

Friend, your expectations may have been greater than reality, but this does not take away from the beauty of this great building. It also has a very unique architectural design. I have to say that for me the most impressive thing is that great dome. I adore these designs and the sculptures are wonderful, in addition to the impeccable condition of the building.
Yes, without a doubt the dome occupies a central place, it is a very important place. Thank you for your visit.
It must have been an incredible experience to see this building in person after watching it on TV for so long! Even if it felt smaller than expected, its design is still very impressive. Your pictures really bring out the beauty of the place!
If so many years watching it from the outside and only on TV, it was a great experience, thank you very much for the support!
The building does appear impressive and peaceful.
I'm a little surprised that this vicinity is absent of protests. In my country of Canada there are frequent demonstrations and protests of various interests near our Federal Parliament building in Ottawa. Clearly visible are Warning signs, CCT cameras and Security police.
