¡3 canciones para empezar la semana con energía! | LAGOS | [ESP | ENG]
Welcome back to my blog, guys! Today I bring you my classic review to start the week with energy, today the theme has to do with a duo that I have already brought here but only for specific songs, but today I decided to dedicate the full review to them because of how great they are as artists.
This duo is known as LAGOS and is formed by Luis Jimenez, a Venezuelan artist with a lot of category and who works in several musical projects such as the band “Los Mesoneros” and “Arawatos”, always playing the role of lead vocalist and Agustin Zubillaga, a Venezuelan music producer of much category and experience, known in the world of music as “Mr. A on the Beat”, in the year 2018 both decided to join together to create a project known as LAGOS and in short it was crazy, and today you will understand why.
So, without further ado, let's get started!
¡Bienvenidos de nuevo a mi blog, chicos! El día de hoy les traigo mi clásica reseña para comenzar la semana con energía, hoy la temática tiene que ver con un dúo que ya he traído por aquí pero solo por canciones puntuales, pero hoy he decicido dedicarles la reseña completa por lo geniales que son como artistas.
Este dúo se le conoce como LAGOS y está conformado por Luis Jimenez, un artista venezolano con mucha categoría y que trabaja en varios proyectos musicales como las banda "Los Mesoneros" y "Arawatos", siempre desempeñando el rol de vocalista principal y Agustín Zubillaga, un productor musical venezolano de mucha categoría y experiencia, conocido en el mundo de la música como "Mr. A on the Beat", en el año 2018 ambos decidieron unirse para crear un proyecto conocido como LAGOS y en definitiva fue una locura, y hoy entenderán el porqué.
Así que, sin más que agregar, ¡comencemos!
1.- Reset
This was the first song that was released by LAGOS, as an opener to show the kind of concept they would handle and the kind of music as well; the first thing I loved was the mix of pop elements with Latin elements that make you think of dembow without falling into the reggaeton genre directly.
Many people think that LAGOS is a kind of “reggaeton for sifrinos”, which for people who are not from Venezuela, means reggaeton for people who are basically upper class or of high social status.
The lyrics are very curious because they talk about a theme of getting back together with a person, of restarting the relationship they had with some slightly lustful elements but without falling into the explicit language of reggaeton, but with much more subtlety.
Esta fue la primera canción que fue lanzada por LAGOS, como un abrebocas de mostrar el tipo de concepto que manejarían y el tipo de música también; lo primero que me encantó fue la mezcla de elementos pop con elementos latinos que te hacen pensar en el dembow sin caer en el género del reggaetón directamente.
Muchas personas piensan que LAGOS es una especie de "reggaetón para sifrinos", que para las personas que no son de Venezuela, significa reggaetón para personas de clase alta básicamente o de estátus social alto.
La letra es muy curiosa porque habla de un tema de volver a estar con una persona, de reiniciar la relación que tenían con algunos elementos un poco lujuriosos pero sin caer en el lenguaje explícito del reggaetón, sino con mucha más sutileza.
2.- Clásico
Of all the multiple songs LAGOS has released to the public, I must admit that this one is my absolute favorite, no song so far I feel I like more as a “whole”, as not only the song is great to dance to, the lyrics I love and the video is too sensual but stylish.
The lyrics, in the same way as in the previous song, talk about getting back together with a person you know, but in this case it's clearly a carnal relationship, like when you have a carnal bond with someone because every time you see each other it's too natural to feel that carnal attraction again.
The funny thing is the fact that this time the genre is purely a reggaeton, but the pop is not left out again and it has a very catchy chorus and even words that you would never hear in a song of the genre such as the word “tacit” but very well mixed with the rhythm and the intention of the song.
I feel like this is a song that I could dance to all night long with a person I love.
De todas las múltiples canciones que ha lanzado LAGOS al público, debo admitir que esta es mi favorita en absoluto, ninguna canción hasta ahora siento que me guste más como un "todo", ya que no solo la canción es muy buena para bailar, la letra me encanta y el vídeo es demasiado sensual pero con estilo.
La letra, del mismo modo como en la canción anterior, habla sobre el hecho de volver a estar con una persona que conoces, pero en este caso es netamente una relación carnal, como cuando tienes un vínculo carnal con alguien porque cada vez que se ven es demasiado natural volver a sentir esa atracción carnal.
Lo curioso es el hecho de que esta vez el género es netamente un reggaetón, pero no se deja el pop por fuera de nuevo y se tiene un estribillo demasiado pegajoso e inclusive palabras que nunca escucharías en una canción del género como lo es la palabra "tácito" pero muy bien mezclada con el ritmo y la intención de la canción.
Siento que esta es una canción que podría bailar toda la noche sin problemas con una persona que me encante.
3.- Julia ft Lasso
This is one of the collaborations that I always knew would happen because many times I had seen Agustin in Lasso's videos, so I assumed that one day they would make a HUGE SONG and I wasn't wrong at all, because this song is something that goes completely out of everything we know in Venezuelan pop music, but the combination of Lasso and Luis Jimenez's voices is something that was necessary.
The lyrics are very strong because they talk about those people who hurt us but never want to let us go, who try to manipulate us so that we never leave their lives and who use us to fill their emptiness but never with the idea of making us happy but only to keep control over our lives.
I really liked the video and the symbolism is too epic, because sometimes that can happen too, that someone has become so toxic to you that you can see them everywhere, as if you were hallucinating, it's a very horrible feeling.
Esta es una de las colaboraciones que siempre supe que sucederían porque muchas veces había visto a Agustín en vídeos de Lasso, así que supuse que algun día harían un TEMAZO y no estaba equivocado de ninguna forma, porque esta canción es algo que sale completamente de todo lo que conocemos en la música pop venezolana, pero la combinación de las voces de Lasso y Luis Jimenez es algo que era necesario.
La letra es muy fuerte porque habla de esas personas que nos hacen daño pero que nunca nos quieren soltar, que nos intentan manipular para que nunca nos vayamos de sus vidas y que nos usan para llenar sus vacíos pero nunca con la idea de querer hacernos felíces sino solo mantener el control sobre nuestras vidas.
El vídeo me gustó muchísimo y la simbología es demasiado épica, porque a veces puede pasar eso también, que alguien se ha vuelto tan tóxica para uno que puedes llegar a verla en todos lados, como si estuvieras alucinando, es una sensación muy horrible.
Bonus Track.- Mónaco ft Danny Ocean
This collaboration if I could say that I did not expect it at all, because Danny Ocean is an artist that although he sings pop music, his style is very different from the one LAGOS performs so it seemed a little crazy to me that they would collaborate but as this is a duo of musical geniuses, they can make everything sound too good.
This kind of pop I could say that it's more like US pop than Latin American pop, easily any US artist could do a song like this, so it would be like listening to one of those songs but in Spanish.
I really like the concept of the video, the vintage style and the green screen simulating how movies were filmed at that time, the outfits, the chorus is very catchy, it's a great piece of music.
Esta colaboración si podría decir que no me la esperaba en absoluto, porque Danny Ocean es un artista que a pesar de cantar música pop, su estilo es muy diferente al que interpreta LAGOS así que me paraecía como un poco descabellado que colaboraran pero como ese es un dúo de genios musicales, pueden hacer que todo suene demasiado bien.
Este tipo de pop podría decir que se asemeja mucho a lo que es el pop de estados unidos más que un tipo de pop latinoamericano, fácilmente cualquier artista estadounidense podría una canción como esta, entonces sería como escuchar una de esas canciones pero en español.
El concepto del vídeo me gusta mucho, el estilo vintage y la pantalla verde simulando el cómo se grababa el cine en esa época, los outfits, el estribillo es muy pegajoso, es una gran obra musical.
