Under the Trains - Monomad Challenge.

I have always been fascinated by trains in relation to photography. It is exciting to capture moments in the Buenos Aires subway and each of the stations, the different trains, models, and brands, and the atmosphere itself of these types of places.
Today, I bring you a rather interesting and unique series in which the photos I have taken are of these trains but not necessarily in public service stations.

Those who have followed my work all this time know that my workplace happens to be at the state subway company, specifically in the workshops dedicated to the maintenance and repair of these trains.

Here you will find a different view of these vehicles in a place that not everyone has access to.

Since joining the company, I have dedicated my work to the field of coils and motors for rotating machines, but very recently we have been working directly on trains in another sector, the first workshop that was created almost a century ago, the Polvorín workshop. Every day we work on these trains, but also underneath them in the pits where they are parked, making mechanical adjustments to FIAT and MITSUBISHI trains and the historic Brussels train that stopped running in 2013.

In terms of work, I can say that it is very heavy work, with small spaces for tall people like me, very little light, and too much grease involved. It's dirty work, but in terms of photography, it's great to be in these places and get totally different perspectives and angles.

The platforms, lights, and space can create a certain symmetry if you look closely, and the dim light down there combined with the light from the ceiling creates perfect scenes for black-and-white photography of these trains, where you can play with contrasts. The last photos were taken from below, looking up from the pit, as if I were hiding, and in a way you can tell that I was.

I will often be there doing this kind of work, moving from one place to another to work on different trains on different tracks in the workshop. I hope to make the most of every space and get some unique shots to share with all of you.

I hope you liked this and I wish you a nice day.

The train is my favourite means of transport. Seeing these carriages from an unusual perspective is fascinating; I loved your post. As you say, the images are full of lines and symmetries that bring a certain calm and order to restless minds like mine, hehe. Beyond the romanticism evoked by the photos, it's true that working in a place like this must be hard, like any job that requires both physical labour and precision. That's why these snapshots are even more impressive. Thank you for sharing them!

Working in these spaces is very interesting in different aspects: photography, transportation, and knowing that everything done here is enjoyed by someone else without them even knowing it. I've learned to love this job and being surrounded by so much history and trains from a century ago.

Thank you so much for your kind comment and for the support you offer me dear @palomap3

Hace a beautiful day ☺️🖤
