Edges of Light, Buenos Aires - Monomad Challenge

High Contrasts • Street Photography.

This is definitely one of the series I enjoy making the most. It's a style I feel comfortable with, and at the same time it generates a lot of creativity and excitement when I found scenarios where contrast, light, and shadow are the protagonists in combination with the environment. This is what happens in the Microcenter of the city of Buenos Aires, in the San Nicolás neighborhood, especially in the financial area of large historic buildings. This is due to the limited space between the streets and buildings; everything is very narrow there, and when the sun goes down, we can somehow find shapes and lines and play around with this.

On the other hand, I'm making it a habit to create covers for the posts as if they were for a magazine. I don't know, but I find it very attractive and interesting, and somehow it makes the article a little more formal, at least for me.

This first photo is what I would call the line between the immense and the minuscule. Taking as a reference point the magnificent buildings of exquisite architecture in the background and the cyclist waiting for the traffic light to change to cross.

The light falls directly on him and you can see the shadow of his bike on the ground.

Here we find another photo that has fascinated me, two layers, one of light and another of shadows, which separate the image and it seems as if we were seeing two images in the same photo.

In the background on the right you can see the dome of the Bencich building and half of the sun.

One more photo where this dome stands out, but from much further ahead; there are many more shadows covering other areas and the scene is completely different.

I couldn't pass up the chance to capture some reflections with this view. I spent at least 10 minutes trying to get the shot I liked best for this perspective.

Another one of my favorites that also allows us to appreciate the architecture of this area amidst light and shadows, and also creating contrasts with the people in the street.

A couple more photos to appreciate the narrow streets of the city center, especially this financial district, bank headquarters, modern towers, and below, the National Electoral Chamber, I already shared a color version, and now it's the turn of the beloved black and white.

I hope you liked it and great weekend to all :)
