Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament.

This is one of the most impressive temples in the city, with eclectic architecture and more than 100 years since its construction (1914). It is a Catholic place of worship located in the Retiro neighborhood. It is one of the churches that I have not photographed much, honestly, probably due to its location, as I do not usually walk in that area. However, it is in an area rich in architecture and history that is relevant to the country, but unfortunately, security is not very good, and it is far from my usual route.

The façade is simply imposing, and added to this is the fact that it is located on a very narrow street, so an 18 mm lens or a wide angle is ideal for getting a complete composition of this gem.

It was commissioned by an aristocratic family of the time, a wealthy family, and according to legend, this church was covered by the large Kavanagh building, another building belonging to another aristocratic family with whom they had conflicts over their children's forbidden love affairs. It is just a legend like many others that the inhabitants of the city at that time seemed to love and that remain alive today, perhaps for the entertainment of many. The reality is that this myth does not coincide with actual data or dates.

But returning to the architecture, the church itself, and photography, it is always wonderful to be able to get some shots of this historic building, even though I have not had the opportunity to go inside and admire its interior in all its splendor. I hope to do so someday.

Fortunately, that day I had an 18-250 mm Sigma lens with which I managed to get different shots, including some close-up details of the towers, domes, and sculptures characteristic of this Buenos Aires icon. For me, the sky was in my favor at that moment, giving a more dramatic touch to these compositions, which I hope you will enjoy :)

I also hope you have a good day and let me know what you think of the Basilica of the Blessed Sacrament.

What an interesting story you tell, and the photographs are fantastic! These images of churches and cathedrals are some of my favorites, although I admit I haven't taken them that often. The interiors, in particular, are beautiful and have a wonderful history. I really enjoyed the post. Thank you for sharing it, my friend. Have a good day!
