Agree to Agree
Everyone at some point in their life has come to an agreement with someone or group of people.
It doesn't even need to be a written agreement, for example, last week I made an agreement with my brother.
I would leave the house and not come back for three days and in exchange, he would pay me for it.
No one ask me where I went, but I would say it was the most interesting three days.
So there it was, a verbal agreement, since there was no paper in between, I could have easily broken it.
For my wonderful tale to tell, I will be sharing a story about the non written agreement that I had with two wonderful people.
So like Lisa from Cimorelli would say, Let's get into it.
If you've read most of my stories, you would know I'm an averagely smart girl, even though I don't wear glasses.
So of course, I wanted to make friends with equally averagely smart people and it was glorious when I did.
When we weren't being typical girls with drama, we got along really well. We got along really well to the point that we all came to an agreement.
Things were getting hard, with school, family issues, generally life and we had to juggle everything.
So in my two hundred level, Esther, one of the averagely smart girls, came up with an idea.
It wasn't these exact words but the conversation started a little something like this.
"So I've been thinking".
Vera, the other averagely smart girl and I looked at each other.
I'm sure we thought the same thing.
It wasn't going to be good. Just like the time, she thought it wasn't right that the rice she cooked would be so much sweeter with plantain and it was so unfair that our landlord's plantain was just glued to the tree feeling left out and lonely.
The rational pair convinced her that the plantain was happy the way it was.
As it turned out, what she was thinking about was actually really not bad.
So at that moment, all three averagely smart girls came to an agreement that we would share the parts for each course.
In case you didn't understand, I'll explain.
Different lecturers taught different topics, so Esther's idea was to list out all the topic, then like the games we played as kids, we would tear each topic, fold and choose, that way no one would think they were cheated into getting the hardest part.

So the agreement was made and each party had to uphold their own part of it.
Instead of someone bursting their brains over twelve topics, each of us got four topics.
It sounded so nice, appealing to my beautifully formed eardrums.
We would go for night class, read our individual parts and then when we were done, we would distribute ourselves and go and sit with our night class husbands as we called them.
Esther's was Nice, mine was George and funny coincidence, Vera's was also George, a different one.
Whispers, mine was the cutest.
It was only seven courses that I offered in my year two first semester, so after the first and the second papers went by and Esther's idea worked out so well, the agreement was officially sealed.
It would last till the end of time.
Two more papers went and Esther's brilliant idea was still working out.
There was a tiny glitch with the fifth paper. They decided to call us one by one with our Registration Numbers, Esther's registration number was 988, mine 1022 abd Vera's 1028.
Funny coincidence again, Vera and I were so close.
Somehow, we managed to make it work and still sat together. The sixth exam went smoothly and then the curve ball came.
Mycology, even just typing it sent a chill down my spine.
We were allowed to sit near each other but it really didn't make a difference.
It might have just been in my head but it felt like each student had a personal invigilator breathing down their necks.
I looked at the question paper and for the first time in my entire life, I was blank.

The exam was hard no doubt and I looked around and I saw people were already smiling and writing.
What were they smiling about???!!!!!
I looked at my two best averagely smart girls and we all had the same mirrored look, it was over.
I wrote what I could and somehow by Divine forces, we managed to pass the course.
I already knew the agreement was over.
Even if there was a probability that it wasn't going to ever be that way again, I couldn't take the risk.
That was how the agreement came to an end and I learnt a very important lesson.
Always read your book by yourself
Now I'm only friends with one of the averagely smart girls even though I will always love the other.
We are doing so much better in our exams.
Vera and I made a new agreement, read everything and nail every exam and we have been doing just that.
We both finished a two and half exam under an hour yesterday and when we submitted, the lecturer asked what our names were.
He opened our scripts and said, "I'd really like to see you both again" and I smiled back and said, "But definitely not year" and we all burst out laughing.
He said, "Definitely" so I think my last paper for the first semester ended gloriously and with the new agreement to try our best, things have been going so much better.
Oh and @vivaebony, you know you are my favorite person🌚.
Yea you are right. At one point we have in one way agree to something. But I have come to discover at times agreement always turn to disagreement
Exactly, most disagreements starts with agreements..
Thanks for reading ❤️
Wow! So you guys agreed to read different courses to help each other out, is that right? Lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
You are lucky you passed, don't try that agreement again o
I learnt my lesson. Never again.
Thanks for reading and commenting ❤️
Hahaha. It was a very risky deal! I would never leave my qualifications in someone else's hands: that can be a suicidal act. Knowledge is not transmitted by telepathy. Thank goodness you learned your lesson! Regards
I really did.... And it's never happening again and since then, exams have gotten so much easier
Thanks for stopping by❤️
Lol...school days... Glad you found a friend and that you both decided to take your studies seriously.😊
Me too😊😊.
I can't wait to say school days like a thing of the past too😂
It sounds as if you and your friends made an agreement to try and make schoolwork less strenuous, which ended up causing mishaps. However, due to some textual errors and repetition, your story becomes hard to follow at certain points. We recommend drafting your stories in google documents, as well as developing plot points to convey how situations felt in the moment.
We recommend reading our article on creative non-fiction for tips on adding these details into your stories. We hope this feedback helps! Thank you for sharing your story with us, and for your engagement with other members of the community.
I will make sure to read again. Perhaps there were a few things I overlooked.
Thank you again ❤️
