From Dwarfs and Trains on a Saturday
Such a cool and different bar
What would be better than a nice cold beer even on a rainy Saturday afternoon in a lovely place which they call a bar but have a look what it’s really is.
Follow me on a Saturday afternoon journey to meet my beloved kind of dwarfs somewhere in Belgium 🇧🇪

La Chouffe
A delicious Gnome Brew with a Big Character
My First Impressions: More Than Just a Gnome
La Chouffe doesn’t sneak up on you. Nope this one dances right into your glass wearing a red gnome hat and a mischievous grin.
This Belgian blonde ale is iconic, quirky, and surprisingly strong at 8% ABV. Despite its fairy-tale mascot, this beer means business. Perfect for my meeting this afternoon with a business person for a relaxing talk in such a beautiful location.

Flavor Profile: Light Look, Big Flavor
From the very first sip, you’re greeted by bright citrusy esters, a hint of coriander spice, and that unmistakable Belgian yeast character fruity, slightly peppery, and oh-so-smooth. The malt body is soft and round, with just enough sweetness to keep everything in check. There’s a subtle hoppy dryness in the finish, but it never overpowers. It’s balanced, playful, and dangerously drinkable.

What Makes It Special
What sets La Chouffe apart is its flavorful punch in a light-colored disguise. It’s one of those beers that looks friendly and goes down easy… until you stand up and realize the gnome’s been pulling your legs the whole time. The recipe hasn't changed much since its creation in the Ardennes region in the late 1970s, and frankly, it doesn’t need to.

The Look: Whimsy Meets Heritage
The bottle is instantly recognizable. That cheerful little gnome has become a global mascot for Belgian craft beer, and the label strikes the perfect balance between whimsy and tradition. Golden tones, alpine imagery, and playful type all scream: “Let’s have fun, but let’s keep it Belgian.”
The train bar
Have a look to this place in the middle of the forest of Belgium. Here closed an old railway track. Someone changed an old station into a bar a nice place to hang out in the summertime or even like today during a rainy Saturday afternoon.

Old buildings …
… got a new life as a bar where so many people have a rest during their bike weekend or other trips to the green countryside.

Final Thoughts: Small Gnome, Big Legacy
La Chouffe isn’t just a beer.
It’s a little adventure. It’s perfect for anyone who loves expressive Belgian ales with character, charm, and a touch of magic. Whether you’re new to Belgian beer or a seasoned drinker looking for something with personality, this gnome’s got your back.
Prost, santé, cheers and don’t trust the gnome. He’ll pour you another.

So, this might be another cool location for a Hive meeting in the summertime to meet Hivians and some dwarfs and gnomes.
Have a great day everybody

That's a cool place to unwind.... but no no not in the rain! *% strength, oof, wouldn't need many of those to fall over
It seems to be a very cool spot to have beer during sunny days.
Good beer La Chouffe I can find in store in Montreal, I buy one sometimes.
Have a great day. Cheers
Excellent recommendation! and an excellent view to enjoy it. Greetings from Venezuela 😊.
Excellent travel. Greetings!!!
This Gnome looks happy :)
What a magical and refreshing experience you’ve shared! La Chouffe sounds like the perfect companion for a rainy Belgian afternoon playful yet potent, with a charm as strong as its flavor. I absolutely love how you described the gnome beer’s personality and the whimsical setting of the transformed train station bar; it truly paints a vivid picture of a cozy escape into nature and tradition. Your storytelling makes me want to pack a bag and follow those enchanted railway tracks straight to that gnome’s lair for a taste myself!
Looks fun! We Filipinos love to hang out with beer and karaoke. (haha)
Hope you enjoyed your beer!
