Rainy Regrets

Oh, I’ve had my fair share of hilarious disasters thanks to excessive rainfall, but the one I’ll never forget is about laundry and the most embarrassing day at secondary school,OMG😆

It all started during one of those weeks when the rain simply refused to stop,July to be precise. Each morning, I’d peek outside my window, hoping to see a little sunshine, but all I got was more rain, pouring and pouring as if the sky had sprung a leak, for about 3 days. I had run out of clean clothes, and my laundry basket was overflowing. So, despite the gloomy weather, I washed my clothes, hoping somehow they’d dry. I hung them out on my makeshift line under the tiny porch, thinking the shelter would be enough. But the moist air was everywhere, and after two days, my clothes were still as damp as when I’d washed them.

By the third morning, I was desperate. It was a school day, and my uniform was not exactly “fresh” in fact, it was still cold and damp to the touch, funny enough there wasn't electricity during the raining period, for me to even iron it a little. But I convinced myself it wasn’t so bad. I sprinkled some perfume on the shirt, hoping to mask any musty smell, and bravely put on my soggy uniform. As I walked to school, the damp shirt clung to my skin, making me shiver. I kept telling myself it would dry soon.

Things got worse when I entered the warm classroom. Suddenly, the scent of damp fabric and wet shoes filled the air, you know how the odour can be ba, and a few heads turned. My friend leaned over, wrinkled her nose, and whispered, “Is something smelling weird here?” My cheeks turned bright red. Throughout the lesson, people kept glancing in my direction, and by lunch break, the joke had spread

I learned my lesson that week sometimes, it’s better to repeat old clothes than wear them damp and smelly! Now, I always check the weather forecast before doing laundry during rainy season. Moments like these may be embarrassing, but looking back, they’re also pretty funny!

Back in that days of secondary school, it was raining season that made the silky type of fabric sold a lot because of the wash and wear nature. We would wash it in the morning, use coal iron to press out the water and we are good to go 😅

Sorry ehh, I know how embarrassing it is to wear a smelly uniform 🥹

Hold on,
Coal iron was a common thing back then...or maybe the situation happened recently, say 2 to 4 years ago.
Genz people everywhere 😅
