Am I defined by MY MOMENTS or do I DEFINE my moments?

It’s so easy to get caught up in moments; the good, the bad and the truth. There are certain moments that happen in our lives which define it by stages.

I can’t actively think of some special memories or moments because every one is precious. Yet, somewhere in my human soul, I want to attribute every smile or tear to something.

But many times, as I have learned, we just need to hold onto that moment - that precious time, numbers ticking, as another reel tape is created in this great big film called life.

There is a lot we can not control as human beings. So, why should moments be another source of anxiety? Why should we think on one bad 5 minutes and think it was more than it was?

I honestly feel that joys, laughter, sorrows and any other emotion is special. It may not be what we want at the moment but it is special. Every moment births an emotion that has its effect on who we become and how we see life.

So, what are moments? Someone called it a “never ending snapshot of defining events” while the Oxford Dictionary says, “a very brief period of time”.

The difference between these two definitions is one comes from lived experiences with certain philosophies. The other is based on scholarly studies or research.

This makes me wonder, as human beings, do we all have philosophies we live by? It made me ask myself what my philosophy is…

And that was another moment for me because I realised that moments to me where just moments. They go as quickly as they come. The turning point is our reaction or response to them.

I read in a book that bad days are simply an exaggeration of what we truly experienced. What it was a bad five minutes that we drag through out the day. We let a moment of down time affect the entire game.

And I saw, after thinking, that maybe that’s all there is. Bad moments. Good moments. Bad days or good days. Do those even exist?

What do we call a good day? Is it when we make sales? Or when everything seems to go our way? Does this mean that my good days are defined by objects and not me? What if I want all days to be good?

And that was how I just knew that all days would not be good. However, that is just what they are. Moments. Moments we live for and learn from. Small seconds that can tilt our worlds on its head. So, if all I have are moments, I can make the most of it.

I may not be able to remember every one but I have the invaluable gift of creating more. And that’s enough for me to wake up daily.

I reckon the quality of my life has improved dramatically since I have learned to be with myself through the bad moments and then let them go. Not holding onto them to get attention or have some kind of drama to talk about, but be with them and then let them go. It's something I practise regularly now and wouldn't do it any other way. Although, I notice sometimes parts of me still wants the attention through drama! So I have to love on that part of me some more it seems. 😉 !LUV !ALIVE

It’s the same with me!!! I have to remind that part of me that the world revolves and it’s not around me. So easy to play the victim.

Thank you for such a very beautiful piece that makes us reflect upon how we see events, moments, circumstances - life.

I may not be able to remember every one but I have the invaluable gift of creating more. And that’s enough for me to wake up daily.

I love these lines. Can't articulate much but it makes me all the more grateful for every waking moment. Thank you !LADY

To me a good day is when am working towards my goal or dreams in life, when you know you’re on the right track while moving forward
Some good days are not defined by objects.

For instance, you got promoted at your work place or you achieved something great.
Everything good can happen to you all the days of your life, you just have to change your mindset and always see positivity in everything.

There’s a Bible verse that says “surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life…” so it’s possible for good things to happen everyday.

It is. But I also believe that getting only the good makes us take it for granted. Which is why the not so good days makes us cherish each one. And every waking moment becomes precious ❤️
