Too Much Crazy!

When I was a kid, the whole idea of somebody being a little bit crazy and going off the rails were certainly something that happened but it was also a pretty great rarity.

Same was true for people who believed "odd things" or had strange political/religious beliefs or thought there were fairies living at the bottom of their garden. Maybe a friend-of-a-friend's neighbor's cousin, or something. Twice removed.

For the most part, it seemed pretty harmless and like something you wouldn't worry about because you only would run into it once in a great blue moon.

That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

These days it feels more like there's a little bit of crazy under virtually every stone you turn over!

Now, I'm not talking about clinical insanity, people being schizophrenic or suffering from dissociative identity disorder, or anything like that. I'm talking about people who on the surface seem like they're pretty "normal," but they are tilting at proverbial windmills that can only be equated to oddball beliefs I cannot even begin to fathom.

This morning, an old friend sent me something via Facebook Messenger that basically amounted to this long screed about how both Joe Biden and Barack Obama had actually been assassinated during the first Trump administration and the "representations" we see of them today are actually high functioning AI being directed by China and Russia.

Now, I'm not going to get into whether or not my friend is a few fries short of a happy meal, just trying to make the comment that something like that is not even that uncommon in 2025, and sometimes it seems like it's lurking around every corner.

Which can only lead me to one place which is that the collective human consciousness seems to be losing its grip on reality.

Were there always this many strange people around? More specifically, are we just aware that there are this many strange people in today's world because of the Internet... which allows everybody to have an instant publishing platform for their somewhat off-base thoughts and beliefs? As in, this stuff was always there but we never heard about it and now we just hear about it all the time.

Regardless, it leaves me wondering why we're all so crazy.

Is it because reality has become so stressful and unpleasant that we seek refuge in wishful thinking and crazy flights of fancy that allows our minds to become occupied with something less painful than the fact that our ability to house and feed ourselves is declining with every passing day and there's not a damn thing we can do about it?

I took a bit of a reality check and decided to poke around in my own mind to see what my weirdest — and most crazy sounding — ideas and beliefs might be.

No much there, to be honest... I'm all about exploring possibilities, but I hold few strong beliefs that aren't backed by science or empirical (direct) evidence.

About the "craziest" belief I hold is that Hive (and other crypto I own) might become worth 10x what it is now, someday.

So that was really not much help.

Lots of people believe that Mrs. Denmarkguy is psychic, but she's mostly a brilliant mentalist, profiler, psychologist and intuitive whose pattern recognition skills are off the scale. What she does looks like "magic;" a brand of crazy.

At least to some.

But it's still nowhere near some of the doom scrolling insanity I regularly come across. And it scares me that there are lots of people who are serious about these things being "real."

I realize I'm sounding a bit doomy but it just seems like the world is very strange... and getting stranger.

Pay me no mind... I'm just a little loopy!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!

"About the "craziest" belief I hold is that Hive (and other crypto I own) might become worth 10x what it is now, someday." Same here, plus that one day my sister might hit the big lottery...
