Days Go By... Life Resumes Its Noisy Path...

The nice thing about the electricity going out is that you can use it as a completely legitimate excuse for sitting still and doing pretty much nothing!

Which can be a lovely opportunity if you have not a care in the world and no obligations constantly poking at the edges of your awareness... but otherwise pretty frustrating. Which is a long-winded way of saying "nice, but I don't have time for this."

So, the not-so-nice reality is that you simply end up putting in the "lost" time in some other way, just to get back to the "starting line" where you were when the power cut out.

That was my today. And my yesterday. And my day before.

I feel tired. Not physically, but in an emotional and psychological way that comes from relentlessly having to be "on," with no breaks and no end in sight. If an "end" even exists.

Maybe it doesn't.

Except for the "permanent" end...

The trouble with living in a world that places extreme importance on "success" and "leadership" is that that world's infrastructure revolves around the development of success and leadership.

Which leaves a substantial number of people pretty much being left hanging out to dry. Not that we can't choose to not follow the majority paradigm, but there are disadvnatages and difficulties involved in doing so.

When I was growing up, I remember there being no shame in simply having "a profession" and being good at that. It was not some kind of "personal defect" to be perfectly content spending your life as "just a plumber" or "just a cook" or "just a janitor."

Our yard man, growing up, was a career yard man.

Of course, we live in a different world now, in part because the likelihood that your chosen profession becomes obsolete soon is much higher than it used to be.

I speak from experience... having "lost" three professions to redundancy, outsourcing and obsolescence. It's not that I don't know how to pivot and reinvent myself... I just find the process exhausting and soul-draining, above all.

To each, their own. Some find constant flux and change exciting; some find it exhausting. It's neither "good," nor "bad."

Life has resumed its noisy path, and I will follow...

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your week!

Unfortunately, this feeling of psychological exhaustion from life and constant expectations is something we all go through, especially in a world where change has become faster than our ability to catch our breath.
