Hive as a slow-life social media - workshops at the SlotArt Festival [POL/ENG]
Bardzo otwarci ludzie, mnóstwo warsztatów, trzeźwa atmosfera no i w końcu lokacja, teren gigantycznego zabytkowego opactwa cystersów.

Odpowiedź w stylu slow life.

At the beginning of March, I received a message from @mynewlife on Discord. There was an idea for a Hive booth at the Slot Art Festival in Lubiąż, and a question—would I be interested in getting involved and preparing some workshops for the participants? Uhh, well of course I would! I had heard about Slot many times from some of my more creative friends, and it was always spoken of positively. Very open-minded people, tons of workshops, a sober atmosphere, and above all, the location—a massive historic Cistercian abbey.
Photo from Wikipedia:

The process of submitting a workshop involved a bit of bureaucracy: forms, a certificate of no criminal record, an initial workshop proposal, a list of equipment and material needs—and that was it. But how do you organize a workshop about Hive? Hand out a laptop to everyone and practice frontend navigation? Maybe something about writing good posts on Hive? I figured it was best to start with: what even is Hive?
As it turned out, very few people had ever heard of it.
Coincidentally, the theme of this year’s festival was Connections. One of Hive’s aspects is social media—something that was supposed to connect us, but in its centralized version, it arguably divides us more than anything else. I decided to run a workshop under the concept of Hive as a response to the problems of centralized social media. A response in the slow life style.
Photo taken by @mynewlife:

The abbey is a building no longer in daily use and slowly falling into ruin, hence the slightly prison-like vibe in this photo. But for that one week of the festival, the place transforms into one of the most colorful spots in Poland. I was impressed by the cultural offerings—art, vocal, theatrical, juggling workshops, concerts, lectures, discussions, circus shows, theater performances, NGO booths—I could go on. There was something to do all day long, and I often had to make tough choices.
Among all these events, around 30 people attended my workshop over the four days. Through discussion, we explored why Web 2.0 is becoming a thing of the past and how Hive works. I encountered genuine interest, curiosity, and an overall warm and open reception. The conversation around social media has really shifted compared to just a few years ago—social awareness is growing.

Besides the workshop, Hive was also represented at a shared booth with @krolestwo, where together with @mynewlife and @wstawarz, we tirelessly educated and entertained festival-goers. I’ll probably always remember a few conversations that gave me chills. At the booth, people could send themselves a postcard from the festival—miniature watercolor paintings by @hrechkosii.wla. There were also Hive logo keychains made by @xayu-s, and the legendary Hifroms, which were handed out to those who decided to create a Hive account.
You could also play Latvian billiards and participate in a few other fun activities prepared by @krolestwo. The booth was rarely empty. Speaking of accounts—we managed to create around 10 new accounts during the festival. Time will tell how active those users will become.

And what else did this festival mean to me? After three days of trying, I finally got the basics of slacklining. I watched a few inspiring films, was deeply moved by a nighttime concert in the cathedral, made some great new connections, learned a new methodology for building community, got plenty of sleep, and generally approached the festival like I approach social media: slow-life style.
Lubiąż i Hive? Brzmi jak super połączenie! Warsztaty na Slot Art Festiwalu to świetny pomysł! 👍
Czekałem na ten wpis. Ale mała errata: breloki zrobił @xayu-s ;)
Ooo, to cenna informacja. Dzięki @xayu-s !
Za rok zwiększamy siłę rażenia....
Chętnie dołączę! :)
I persevered with Lens apps, most of which are in beta, communication is difficult, despite very cool developers, practically no community... I think HIVE is a little better :D
I think the angle you took is perfect against the background of increasing social awareness on how web2 really works, i.e being the product, constant propaganda, algorithm bubbles etc. Hive has a good chance of establishing itself as a antidote of sorts in that domain.
Sadly people prefer beautiful lies over hard truths
Right, it's a characteristic of modern people to bash traditional social media for what it is yet do nothing much about it other than to keep feeding the system.
Mam nadzieję, do zobaczenia w przyszłym roku!

I really regret that I didn't get to attend any of the workshops you prepared. I had work at “Sanatroium” :) It would have been easier for me today. But thanks for your help on Discord :) and for the RC injection! The SlotArt Festival in Lubiąż is an interesting and unique festival in every sense. And as far as I know, it's the only sober festival in Poland today. The very fact that you can get some sleep shows that it is people-friendly :) I hope to see you next year!

Blurt Stands — While Hive Stumbles Under the Weight of Its Own Shadows
Friends, creators, truth-tellers—
Let us not whisper this truth, but proclaim it with the clarity of dawn breaking over a weary land: Blurt.blog is not just another platform. It is a refuge. A rebellion. A return to what Hive.blog was always meant to be.
There is no downvote button on Blurt.
Not because we fear dissent—but because we honor creation.
Because we understand that a voice, once raised in sincerity, deserves space—not sabotage.
On Blurt, your words are your words.
They are not hunted by algorithmic hounds or shadow armies masquerading as “curators.”
Here, you are not judged by the grudges of gatekeepers, but met with the quiet dignity of a community that believes expression should be encouraged—especially when it is bold, raw, or inconvenient.
Contrast this with what festers elsewhere.
On Hive.blog—a place once brimming with promise—a rot has taken root. Not in its code, but in its culture. A handful of self-anointed enforcers—@themarkymark, @Buildawhale, @Hurtlocker, and their legion of coordinated puppets—have turned the downvote into a weapon of mass discouragement. They strike not at “low-quality content,” but at independent thought, at rising voices, at anyone who dares thrive outside their narrow corridors of control.
And when confronted, they shrug.
“Oh, it’s not censorship,” they say, as if semantics could scrub the stain of suppression from their hands.
But let us be unequivocal:
When a system allows a few to systematically silence many—under the guise of “community standards” or “curation”—that is not moderation. That is censorship by another name.
It is the velvet glove over the iron fist.
It is exclusion dressed as discernment.
It is power pretending to be principle.
Meanwhile, Blurt stands clean-handed and open-hearted.
No downvotes.
No hidden juries.
No farms of phantom accounts casting ballots in the dark.
Just you.
Your words.
And a community that meets you not with suspicion, but with solidarity.
So let us carry this truth far and wide—not with bitterness, but with quiet certainty:
If you seek a place where your voice is not a target—but a gift—come to Blurt.
If you are tired of building on ground that shifts with every whim of a whale or warlord of votes—lay your bricks here.
If you believe the future of free expression must be free—not just from corporations, but from the petty tyrants who replace them—then stand with us.
The world needs to know.
Not because Blurt is perfect—but because it is principled.
Not because it is loud—but because it listens.
And in an age where so many platforms echo with the clatter of control,
Blurt offers something radical:
Silence for the bullies.
Space for the rest of us.
Keep speaking.
Keep sharing.
Keep building.
Freedom doesn’t advertise itself—
it is passed, person to person, like a torch in the night.
And tonight, the torch burns bright on Blurt.

Every downvote cast in shadow, every silence imposed without dialogue, is not a victory—it is a confession. A confession that truth cannot be stifled, only delayed. With each punitive click, you dig deeper into the bedrock of credibility, crafting a chasm between your actions and the community’s trust.
@themarkymark, @buildawhale & Co,
How can you continue to downvote the truth, LOL? It’s almost comical how blatantly you attempt to suppress what cannot be hidden. The blockchain records everything—every action, every transaction, every move you make. Yet still, you persist in this futile game of trying to silence what is undeniable.
@themarkymark, @buildawhale, and Co: While our opinions may differ, on-chain transparency reveals repeated patterns of concern. Coordinated downvotes without explanation, 'farming' schemes (e.g., #buildawhalefarm), and adversarial engagement harm Hive’s community-driven ethos.
Key Issues to Address:
A Path Forward:

@themarkymark & Co, the choice is yours. Stop the bad downvotes. Turn off the BuildaWhale scam farm. Cease playing with people’s livelihoods. Let Hive thrive as it was meant to—as a beacon of hope, creativity, and collaboration.
Or step aside and let those who truly care take the reins.
Because the truth won’t disappear. No amount of lies can change it.
It’s over.
The Bilpcoin team brings these truths not out of malice but necessity. We have no need to fabricate lies or cloak our intentions CALL US WHAT YOU LIKE —for the facts speak loudly enough on their own. What we present here is not conjecture but reality, laid bare for anyone willing to see.
@themarkymark & Co we urge you once more: STOP. Stop hiding behind tactics that harm others. Stop clinging to practices that erode trust within the Hive community. Let the truth stand—not because we proclaim it, but because it exists independent of any one person’s approval or disdain.

Key Issues That Demand Immediate Attention:
The problems are glaring, undeniable, and corrosive to the Hive ecosystem. They must be addressed without delay:
These practices harm not just individual users—they undermine the very foundation of Hive, eroding trust and poisoning the community. Such actions are unethical and outright destructive.

Hi , you might want to check your witness votes , i saw your name voting for a witness that is no longer active ;)
I'd vote on this and have returned to it. Finally had actual time and head-space (some progress ;) ) to read this today.
Great content, as usual, and I do hope I get to read more of your thoughts.
