Three Tune Tuesday: Jazz for Before Autumn Becomes "the Holidays"
"Fractal Autumn Tree," art by the author, Deeann D. Mathews
I've always felt two things about Nov. 15, which is tomorrow ... first, whatever of serious matter is not done in a particular year is not going to be done because the year is over and "the holidays" are coming into effect, and second, because of the general weather where I live, I tend to push "the holidays" back in my mind just a little more ... I love autumn so much for what it is, and I especially enjoy getting out far enough into nature and music so that "the holidays" do not take over too soon... and since it is Nov. 14, I definitely am going to hold the line this week ...
This is the kind of feeling I have as I wander alone in the light ... clear golden light through increasingly golden trees and blue skies so blue because of gentle early autumn rains that it is out of this world ... hence, "Blue Monk," so warm and yet so crisp like autumn at this stage here ... still no thought of winter, for autumn is its own thing in its middle period!
Neither major nor minor, happy nor sad, summer nor winter ... the wind is strong enough to move the heavy-leaved trees and they moan, and their brittle leaves rustle as they know that soon they must drop their weight ... but for now, in this moment, the world is like this piece of jazz, its own thing, not yet swallowed in artificial light and music ... this is real, like a mid-autumn day not yet past Nov. 15 ...
Neither summer nor winter, but autumn being its own thing ... neither fully jazz nor pop, but taking of the best 1976 had to offer ... James Brown and Motown and the jazz they were built on in the 1970s looking toward the great pop anthems of the 80s... the golden light of autumn streaming through cool mornings and warm afternoons and chilly evenings that come soon ... and golden trees that must change, but NOT YET, for this is their hour of ecstasy, to live and not die -- this is my introduction to Bob James, and I will keep my ears open for him in the future...

Thank you 🙏
The lady from Westchester must really be exceptional if Bob James is performing with the whole team?
Probably was wearing some shiny stockings ...
Overall, that was a truly remarkable piece of music!
By the way, have you met your fellow jazz enthusiast @fjcalduch? I have just started following him, and he has some wonderful jazz just like you do, @w74!
