A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words (Or, Exactly Fifty): A Rare Moment of Unity

Source

What I see: A wrecked car to appearances, but there appears to be a statue in it, not a person, so I assume this is more of an art exhibit. I also notice the license plates say "1923." In many places, segregation was big, and race riots were big in this decade ... but Black men and boys are in the picture, looking comfortable, and not being told to get back.

What I feel: This piece of art represents something amazing that happened in a community, something that overcame racism.

White men, because they felt the bank was theirs.
Black men, because they knew those who paid them had money there.
Both groups stopped and wrecked the thief's car, catching the thief and saving all deposits.
For one picture-perfect memorial moment, ten years later, they and their sons rejoiced together.

Certainly, whoever is inside the vehicle is hungry. And I agree with you, that there is a certain unity among the members of the community.

I think that is a art piece -- a statue in the car to represent the thief.

This is true. This story could not have occurred in the United States in most regions after 1965 ... and in some areas, 1923 was too late, for the burning of Greenwood, OK by white racists happened in 1921 ... but the license plate gave me 1923 as a starting place, so, MAYBE, during the Great Depression in 1933, in which the bank they saved stayed open and saved the business of the whole town, MAYBE, because of the extremity of everyone's situation, everyone could get there long enough to take a photo to remember how they worked together. SOMEHOW, this photo did happen... I imagined a how, but there must have been a real one.

Though black or white, if unity exists definitely their will be peace and no crimes. Short n sweet story.

I too believebit's a piece of art just like those cars in Disney World.

Even those men might be actors.

Thank you for joining pic1000 👍

They might be ... portraying what could have been and should have been ... and perhaps, minus the wreck, can yet be in the world

Those cars in the 1920s were kind of lightweight, so, 20 men working together probably could if they caught it before it got up to speed!

Yes, and engines were probably not as powerful as they are now!

Not even close ... so you could literally get your car run off the road in those days (and, quiet as it is kept, even in a modern car, get twenty strong men mad before you get your car out of park and FIND OUT: this does still happen in modern times)!
