Digital Superstitions In The Modern World

Digital superstitions has got to be some of the funniest beliefs to ever come into existence, I have seen and heard about a few and trust me I have blindly believed in so many of them, back in the days when I was a teenager I used to believe that If a particular message isn’t forwarded to the number of people required in tthe message then something bad might happen to me especially with those christian messages.

Also when I was younger, anytime I got a new phone I was always adviced to charge it overnight and not with generator power but the national grid, they would say that If I used a generator for it, it would spoil the phone battery and it would make the battery weak. Looking back on how we were foolishly deceived actually cracks me up a little, Like I really used to believe these things and I would seriously act on them.

This digital superstitions isn’t just about phones, A few years back I decided to purchase a power bank, I bought the power bank then 20000mah, the power bank had different charging port, to be honest I didn’t really like that particular type, but the product I wanted to buy from the woman wasn’t available, so she persuaded me to buy the type she had, I bought this power bank and took it home thinking that I have finally bought a power, I charged it for a while and it displayed 100% on the mini screen.

So when my phone battery became low I decided to use the power bank, I charged the phone not even up to 10mins the power went off, I thought it was a prank…the next day I tried it again and thesame thing happened, I carried it back to the womans shop and this woman legitly told me that she forgot to tell me to charge the power bank for 2 days straight, when I heard that I bursted into laughter first and I was like I have never heard of that before, she said that thats how its been done or otherwise the power bank wouldn’t be strong, immediately I told her that she would be the one to charge it because my house doesn’t have constant electricity supply.

The next two days I went back to her and she wasn’t confident anymore, she said she had tried it and it didn’t work so I shouldn’t worry that she would get the one I initially wanted.

Till today, my parents, especially my dad, still believe in this thing. He can never charge his newly bought phone with power from a generator 😅
