A Table For Togetherness
As a family in my home, while I was young and growing up we did some certain things together and trust me it was usually fun, back then we had a large family–my dad, my mum, my seven siblings and I and a few uncles and cousins, because we had a large home everybody couldn’t eat from one plate, so my mum would dish for the girls and separately for the boys but were all eating at same time and sometimes my younger sister and I would cry that we didn’t want to eat our older siblings because they mostly cheated us when it was time for them to share meat or fish..Lol.
When I got into the university, as at that time everyone was grown my uncles and older cousins had left our home and even me too I left my home and went to stay with my older brother and his family, on getting there, there was always a family time..my brother had only one child then so we would always eat together, my little niece was still a baby and her food was custard so she couldn’t eat what we the adults were eating, my sister in law is someone that doesn’t like to eat alone at all, she would say she’s no longer hungry or she wouldn’t even at all when it was only her.
So when she gave me more nieces, the children and I started eating together and even on the days that my brother was away from work she would definitely join us to eat, we would most times sit on the floor put the food in our middle and eat from same plate, gist while eating, make funny jokes.
Eating together in my home is almost like a tradition because thats how we basically eat everyday, except for some few days when everyone decides to eat what they actually feel like eating and at their own pace.
Another thing that brings us together as a family most of the time too is when we get to see movies, infact for me I think this is even more of a bonding time for me, because we get to discuss about the movie as we see it together, when the movie is a funny one we are all laughing out loud and when its a tragic movie we all sober together, we get to get ask rhetorical questions about the movie because we’re all just seeing the movie for the first time, this is usually fun for me anytime I join them because most of the times– I’m always on my phone inside my room.
Family time is very important because be it eating, seeing a movie togther or doing something else because it brings about bonding and togetherness, the children and I are always eating together and even today we did that, another thing that I can say that stops us from eating together with my brother and his wife on same table is because the children always mess up the place while eating and the dinning space wouldn’t be enough to contain all us at same time.

Wow you have really so many siblings!! It's nice to know your family dinner traditions it's the first time I heard boy eat separately from girls but I think it's not a big problem.
Yeah, because we’re many that’s why we don’t from same plate😅
