THE LAZY STEREOTYPE
Okay let's talk about laziness.
When I hear the word lazy my mind flashes to a classic image. I just remember someone sitting on the couch with a remote in one hand, he snacks in the other eyes glazed over.
I don't know why society loves slapping that label on people but let's be real to ourselves, lazy is just a word you just toss around to judge people without understanding.
Take my friend John for an example. Everyone calls John lazy because, he was always chilling scrolling through X taking a nap in the mid afternoon. But here is the fact and the truth, John is a freelancer his brains keep turning out with ideas, with wild ideas.
Why do you think he's lazing around on the couch? It is just a creative time for him to bring up ideas. The stereotype says he's wasting time but he's casting a masterpiece in his head. I don't know why society are quick to judge but they don't see the hustle behind the chill.
Take my grandma for example she's 80 now and she moves very slow and spends hours knitting and weaving. Lazy? Many people say because she sits around all day, but she's creating and pouring love into every stitch in the knitting. The world might see her walking chair and thinking that she's idle all day but she's building memories.
Lazy is just a lazy word I would say, we slap it on anyone who doesn't fit the hustle culture or who doesn't act busy all the time and don't get me started on kids labeled lazy at school.
I know of a girl who would stare outside the window when her maths teacher is teaching and many people caught her slack and it turns out that she was battling a brain challenge that makes her jumble with numbers. Not lazy, she was just fighting a fight nobody saw.
Stereotypes like that they blind us to the wisdom, so let's teach out those lazy we label on people. It is a cheap shot a way to dismiss people without digging deeper.
Next time you see someone slacking, you have to ask yourself what is their story, they are hitting story, are they recharging or dreaming or they are just surviving?
Lazy is not a threat. It is a misunderstanding. Let's call it out and see people who for who they really are.
He was doing something good for himself, but they talks without knowing what he was into, let always watch perfectly before we pronounce a word on someone.
