PASS ME THE HELMET

Pass me the helmet. I can hear my loud voice.
My voice was above the crowd shouting to my sister, who stood a few feet away from me. I was about to skate, so I needed the helmet for it.

We were at a skate park. We wondered at this crack, and that has made the summer of many people exciting.
Kids were just zooming past with their skates, and the air smelled like concrete and knives. My sister's eyes were very wide, excited, and also terrified with the stunts many are doing.

In the skate park, and she handed me the helmet. I caught it immediately, unhappy. I put the helmet on, although it was too big for me, but I have to adjust it. Then I told her to wait for me at the pavement, but she was just grinning.

She wanted to follow me and skate, but she did not know how to skate. Her phone was already out to record my move and stunts.

I was fearless in that moment. I decided that today I would conquer the tallest ramp. Never mind that I only learned how to skate through that dust last week.

So I kicked my skateboard immediately.
The wind was just rumbling, steaming and waiting for me. The ramp, the steam bar. Then it looked from the ground. Although my heart was pounding, but I could see my sister cheering at me, telling me to go, go, go. I can do it.

I felt like the whole world was cheering me up. For a second, I was flying weakly, unstoppable. Then all of a sudden, the law of gravity remembered me, and I hit the ramp hard and fell with my knees, which really hurt me so much. Then I finally rode to the stop, laughing.

Helmet was intact. My sister ran to me and gave me a full hand five, like I'd just won a gold medal in an Olympic. At least you didn't die, she said. And in that moment, with the sun blazing, The skate park was alive around us. That felt like a victory enough for me.
