MY SECOND BACK-TO-BACK SATURDAY IN AUGUST SPENT AT A FRIEND'S INDOOR BIRTHDAY PARTY WITH BIG LAUGHS, BALLOONS & BIRTHDAY VIBES
Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
"Well, it seems that August is an event-packed month for me because I have another birthday event slated for this weekend. With the deadlines that I'm trying my best to meet up with I could have declined the invite but the lady specifically told me that she would not forgive me if I don't come and also reminded me that I missed her son's birthday sometimes last year. So, it is a must-attend event for me."
The above is an excerpt from my post about a week ago when I shared my experience about “A Weekend to Remember: Celebrating Princess Elora’s 1st Birthday.” Like I noted in the post, it has been a long time since I attended social events due to my tight schedule at work but I totally enjoyed every bit of the party. So, in the spirit of my August filled with events I attended a second birthday party in a row this past weekend, Saturday to be precise. It was the birthday party of a friend and a very good customer of my my fashion business.
The birthday party was slated for 1pm but I didn't leave my house until about twenty minutes to one. I arrived at the venue around 1.45pm yet the birthday party hadn't started. Well, I fully understand the Nigerian party dynamics and the popular concept of 'African time' where when an event is slated for 10am, for example, it is possible it won't start until 12pm or 1 pm. So, this is the reason I took the time to roundoff everything I was doing before heading out. Well, I adopt African time when I have to attend informal events like parties. I don't try it with formal events.
This birthday celebration was an indoor sitting room party which is a small and intimate gathering of close friends and family. I have always loved a small gathering such as this because it gives you room to interact and network with almost everyone in the room and this became more profound when the MC asked everyone to introduce themselves before the celebrant stepped into the party. It was a moment to know each other and know what the people in the room do for a living and maybe exchange contacts with anyone who share similar interests with you.
Not long after the introduction session was concluded the celebrant was ushered in with music and dancing as all the guests rose to welcome her. Next, a short opening prayer followed and then we sang the "Happy Birthday" song for her before she took her seat.
Next on the agenda was fun, fun, fun. The MC began to roll out games that made the party even more interesting. The first game have to do with a pyramid of plastic cups with a small deodorant cap balanced on top. So, the challenge in the game is that you have to stack the cups without letting the cap fall as fast as possible. The first to finish the challenge is the winner. The game was played by about twelve different people, two per round and it was all fun.
Then, another hilarious game which involved balloons was next. The game involved two different players who will be given about five balloons each to inflate, tie and then place on a chair to burst by sitting on them. The winner is that player that is first to burst all the five ballons. The highlight of this game was the funny moments when a lady with an undeniably big backside could not burst her balloons after several trials even though she put in so much effort. It was funny that we all laughed hard including her.
Afterwards, the men played this popular game that is commonly played by children where you have to dance round the chairs and sit on a chair when the music stops. Then, for the ladies the MC introduced a similar game where they had to follow a rhythm of instructions like "touch your waist, touch your nose, shake your head, shake your bum bum," and the moment they heard "pick the cup," they had to grab a cup as quickly as possible. The person who is unable to pick a cup is out of the game.
While the game was going on there was food and drinks going round to keep everyone refreshed. As the event was gradually coming to an end we took turns in taking photographs with the celebrant.
As I write and reflect on yet another weekend filled with fun, laughter and plenty to eat and drink, I'm reminded how it is important to always take a pause and enjoy some quality moments with friends and family.
August is officially leading the chart as my most socially active months in long time with two birthday parties in a row. I hope the coming months will surpass August in terms of my social activities. Well trust me to keep you guys updated.
Thanks for reading and see you in my next one.

It's always good to take out time from busy work life and socialize. I can imagine how fun filled the party was. Nice you honored the invite and equally had an enjoyable time there.
