How I Made A Kimono Dress
Hey lovelies ❤️
It's your favorite girl @debbie-ese 😍
Welcome to my blog 🤗
I hope you spent some quality time to relax and enjoy your weekend? Whether you spent it hanging out with friends or you're the indoor type that prefer to sleep or watch some movies, I hope you have managed to recharge and prepare yourself for a brand new week ahead. Well, some of us spend our weekend in our places of work even though we may have to resume a bit late than usual.
I made this dress for one of my customer. She saw the style when I displayed the one I had made for another customer and she even wanted to buy it but I explained to her that it can't be sold. So, she told me that she would bring her fabrics and I can make her own for her.
The dress is made using a kampala fabric.
WHAT YOU NEED
- Kampala fabric
- Thread
- Pins
- Elastic
- Measuring tape
- Sewing chalk
- Sewing machine
STEP BY STEP
Step 1: Fold the fabric into four layers. This is to cut the front and back together
Step 2: To cut the neck (back) depth use 1.5 inches and 3 inches for the wideness
Step 3: To cut the neck (front) the wideness is also 3 inches, then you measure the 3 inches to the whole length of the front piece
Step 4: For the shoulder, its a cut together sleeve. The shoulder measurement is 16, so 16/2 is 8, then the sleeve length is 10. Now, 10+8 is 18, so cut that on the shoulder line.
Step 5: Next, to take the body measurement on the cloth use the hip which is usually the biggest body part. Her hip measurement is 46, so divide by 4 which is 11.5. Take it all over the bust point, hip point, down to the down of the dress. Next, add 2 inches allowance all over for ease
Step 6: Take it to the sewing machine and join all the pieces.
Step 7: Ensure you add two ropes to the sides of the dress to form a ruche
Step 8: Iron the dress properly to remove any creases
