An Assortment of Memes on this Boxing Day

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today I thought we'd do another You Should Laugh More post.

Well it's Christmas day for most of you. It's actually the day after for me. Yesterday—Christmas—was a working day, but this is the first day of New Year's vacation for the schools and for many office workers as well. I am terribly tired from yesterday. As the last working day of the year, it was pretty busy. As a result, today I am taking things easy. My kids slept in a little, and thus so could I. It was wonderful! Unfortunately my sniffy nose that I've been nursing for the past week has developed into a pretty nasty cough today. It's always something, eh? So I guess I won't be enjoying today too much, but I can relax so that's something.

Since I am tired and feel bad and since most of you are probably busy with friends or family, I figure we'll go for a You Should Laugh More post today.

Research has shown that laughter is good for us. It has all kinds of health benefits. Despite most of us knowing this, none of us laugh enough. Yeah, I know, being an adult is tough, and furthermore there is a lot of grim stuff happening in the world. These things may be true, but that just is all the more reason for trying to get a little laughter into our lives.

But instead of videos today, I thought we'd look at memes. You know, way back when the Meme community began, I somehow found myself with quite a bit of them. I don't know if they were airdropped or if a post paid out that much before inflation was set or what, but I found myself as one of the largest holders. Maybe I should have sold, but they were not worth much (though much more than now!) so I figured I'd delegate with them. Curation on that token pays out at about 25% so it is a pretty great deal—well, it would be, if the price of the token didn't keep dropping. Oh well. If you are interested in my curation account, follow @lordjulius. That name is a reference, by the way. One I doubt anyone will know without Googling for it. If you can give me the answer, 20 HSBI to you! (and please don't Google—we'll go with the honor system here).

Anyway, I don't share a lot of memes, except occasionally in Discord when a perfect situation comes up, but I do save funny ones. I do still have Facebook and on the rare times I log in (about once a month, just to check on family) my dashboard is flooded with mostly memes. I scroll through for 10 minutes or so, saving the funny ones, then I log off for another month.

Today I thought I'd share some that I found the other day when I checked FB in between lessons.

Puns are a tricky thing. They can be terrible and remind you of the worst dad joke, and they can be... even worse, but for some reason make you smile. These Star Trek pun memes hit that second category for me.

Where is the Wolf??

Kind of Wolf.jpg

I think this is the original format for these. It's a pretty old meme format by now I think, but every time I think I've seen the last of it, I see more.

Anti gravity

I'm with Riker here.

Through the Roof

Inflation these days, eh?

I can't believe it's not the Buddha

It's not just Star Trek that can do bad puns.

No more dad jokes

Given the above memes, this one might be fitting... You know I'll be using this with my kids on New Years Eve.

I did my own research

Every time I run into someone talking about the latest conspiracy theory and they give me the line we all know is coming, I usually just let it go. Henceforth, I'm going to use this meme.

Won't eat the sheep

i really shouldn't wade into politics... I really shouldn't wade into politics...

boobs of toys

You know, I am not nearly as into legos as some grown men, but that said I definitely see the appeal of them and enjoy helping out when my kids ask for lego help. This meme gives a new way of looking at men's addiction to these toys.

What the hell are they opening

For many years I kept up and I could recognize toys. They were usually either old toys that I knew when I was growing up (like the Etch a Sketch) or variations on those old toys. But every year I find myself more like this meme, wondering what the hell they are opening and why they begged me to buy it.

zeus's wandering eye

Speaking of variations on classics, this is a good one.

Gamer Indecision

I don't really play games these days, but when I did I only had like 3 games, all of which I had saved all summer to buy, so I never had this problem. But I sure do recognize this in my kids. The Paradox of Choice is very true (and a great good—look it up).

I saw her face

We'll end on one last Star Trek meme....

So what do you think? Did it make you laugh or was it just stupid? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Those a quite funny! Some of them are definitely a bit thought provoking! My wife does all of our shopping for the nieces and nephews, so I totally understand that one!
