Today I bring you another Christmas ornament, as I have been making over the last few weeks. Here is a beautiful, multipurpose 2D decorative snowflake made using the quilling technique.

Para hoy les traigo otro colgante navideño como he venido realizando en las ultimas semanas, les dejo un bonito copo de nieve decorativo multiuso en 2D en la técnica de quilling.

Esperando que sea de su agrado, les dejo mi proceso creativo:

To do this, I cut enough quilling strips from white cardstock using a paper cutter, according to the width and length I needed.

• I started by taking a 4mm wide white strip and rolling it up with the quilling needle until I reached the end. I removed it from the needle, loosened it a little, and sealed it with extra-strong white glue to make an open circle. To make the flower in the middle, we will need six circles of the same size.

• We will shape the circles into flattened leaves with pointed tips. We will join them with glue in two groups of three, then glue both groups together.

• Using the same parameters as before, use the quilling needle to make 12 open circles slightly smaller than the first ones. Shape these into slanted drops and glue them together in groups of 2.

Para realizar este trabajo corte bastante cintas para quilling con una guillotina, de una cartulina de color blanco según el ancho y el largo que requería.

• Comencé tomando cinta blanca de 4mm de ancho con la aguja para quilling enrollé hasta llegar al final de la misma, saqué de la aguja solté un poco y sellé con pega blanca extra fuerte, para conseguir un círculo abierto. Para realizar la flor que va en el medio, necesitaremos 6 círculos del mismo tamaño.

• Moldearemos los círculos en forma de hojas aplanadas, con picos en las puntas. Uniremos con pega en dos grupos de 3, luego pegamos ambos grupos.

• Bajo los mismos parámetros anteriores realizaremos con la aguja para quilling 12 círculos abiertos un poco más pequeños que los primeros, estos los moldearemos en forma de gotas inclinadas, unimos con pega en grupos de 2.

• We will form the first part of the snowflake by placing the pieces we joined together in pairs around the flower we made earlier.

• I took pearl-colored and bronze-colored metallic cold paint and proceeded to paint the flower with the pearl color and the outer pieces with the bronze color.

• We will make 12 more white circles, which we will shape into flattened drops, joining them in groups of two.

• I proceeded to make six small closed white circles, which I glued in the middle of the piece I had made previously.

• Formaremos la primera parte del copo, colocando las piezas que unimos de dos, alrededor de la flor que había realizado previamente.

• Tomé pintura al frío metalizada color perlada y color bronce, procedí a pintar la flor con la perlada y las piezas de afuera con la bronce.

• Realizaremos 12 circulos más de color blanco, estos los moldearemos en forma de gotas aplanadas, uni en grupos de 2.

• Procedí a realizar 6 pequeños círculos cerrados blancos, estos los pegué en el medio de la pieza que hice con anterioridad en el medio de ella.

• At this point, I finished forming my snowflake by gluing the last pieces around the center piece, as you can see in the image.

• I took the pearl and bronze paints again and painted the circle half bronze and the two drops pearl.

• We can attach the pendant of our choice, or if we want to use it to decorate the Christmas tree, we can attach a piece of clear nylon or thread in the color of our choice. In my case, I used nylon.

This is how I finished this 2D Christmas snowflake using the quilling technique.

• En este punto terminé de formar mi copo de nieve, pegando las últimas piezas alrededor de la pieza central, tal y como pueden ver en la imagen.

• Tomé nuevamente las pinturas color perlado y bronce y pinte el círculo de medio bronce y las dos gotas de color perlado.

• Podemos colocar el colgante de nuestra preferencia, o si queremos usarlo para decorar el árbol de navidad, podemos colocarle un trozo de naylon transparente o hilo del color que deseen, en mi caso le coloque naylon.

De esta manera finalice este copo de nieve de navidad en 2D, en la técnica de quilling.
