‎Hello, friends. In my adolescence I discovered the cover of a movie that caught my attention, it was about a whoman, a little girl and a piano at the seashore, on a lonely beach. Its title was "The Piano", and I, as a novice student of this instrument at that time and also a film lover, was immediately attracted. What a surprise I got with its story! Its director, Jane Campion, offered a beautiful and shocking narrative that hand in hand with Michael Nyman's music guided me through emotions that I was just beginning to discover, due to my young age.
‎Speaking of the song in question, "The Promise", the main theme of its soundtrack, is closely related to the plot, even more so being performed by the protagonist, who being mute, found in the piano her deepest means of expression. Its abrupt and interrupted ending is not a decision taken lightly, it is not a creative whim, it is simply part of a brutal and unforgettable scene for everyone who has seen this film. ‎ Hola, amigos. En mi adolescencia descubrí la portada de una película que llamó mi atención, se trataba de una mujer, una niña pequeña y un piano a la orilla del mar, en una playa solitaria. Su título era "El Piano", y yo, como estudiante novato de este instrumento en aquel momento y además amante del cine, me sentí atraído inmediatamente. ¡Vaya sorpresa que me llevé con su historia! Su directora, Jane Campion, ofreció una narrativa hermosa e impactante que de la mano con la música de Michael Nyman me guió por emociones que empezaba a descubrir, debido a mi corta edad.
‎ Hablando de la canción en cuestión, "La Promesa", el tema principal de su banda sonora, está estrechamente relacionada con la trama, más aún siendo interpretada por la protagonista, que siendo muda, encontró en el piano su medio de expresión más profundo. Su final abrupto e interrumpido no es una decisión tomada a la ligera, no es un capricho creativo, simplemente es parte de una escena brutal e inolvidable para todo aquel que ha visto esta película.
