Is Anything in Life Truly Easy? Lessons From Survival, Struggle, and Small Success.
As I grow older, I keep asking myself one simple question that is there anything in life that is truly easy when it comes to surviving, struggling, and becoming successful? When I was younger, we all thought adults had answers. I believed once you finish school, get a job, or grow up, life would calm down. But life has a funny way of correcting wrong thoughts without shouting.
My parents used to say, “Nothing good comes without effort, but not everything has to be hard the same way.” At that time, I didn’t understand. I thought struggle meant suffering all the time. Now I see it differently. Survival itself is not easy, but some things can be made easier by how we live and think.
One thing that can be done easily, if we allow it, is learning. Learning does not always need money or special opportunity. Sometimes it starts with listening. Listening to advice. Listening to mistakes others made. My parents were not perfect people, but they spoke from experience. When they corrected me, it felt painful then, but later it saved me from bigger pain. Choosing to listen is easy, but pride often makes it hard.
Another thing that can be done easily is being consistent in small things. Big success looks heavy and far away, but small effort is lighter. Waking up on time. Trying again after failure. Doing one thing daily instead of waiting for motivation. My father always said, “Little drops make the bucket full.” I didn’t believe him until I saw how small habits slowly shape a life.
Struggle itself never fully leaves. It only changes clothes. When you solve one problem, another waits. But attitude can make the struggle lighter. Accepting that life is not meant to be smooth helps the heart breathe better. My mother taught me to pray, to rest, and to forgive myself when I fail. That doesn’t remove struggle, but it gives strength to face it.
Success is also misunderstood. Many people think success means no struggle anymore. That is not true. Success just means you now struggle at a higher level, with more responsibility. The difference is, you struggle with experience instead of confusion.
So is there something easy in life? Maybe not easy like sleeping. But some things are simple. Learning from others. Staying humble. Being patient. Taking one step at a time. These things don’t remove hardship, but they make survival possible, struggle meaningful, and success worth holding.
Life may not be easy, but it doesn’t have to be hopeless either. That is the balance my parents tried to teach me, slowly, in their own imperfect way.
