Weekend-Engagement #275: What three behaviours do you wish you could eradicate from humanity and why?

3 behaviors I would eliminate from human nature (even though, to be honest, there would be more):

  1. Greed. I consider greed to be the root of all the world’s evils: always wanting more money, power, fame, material possessions. Why do wars break out? Because of the greed for more resources, more territory, more power. Theft and murder? They often stem from wanting more the “easy” way, without working for it. Exploitation at work? Because of the greed for money. The list is truly endless. If it were eliminated, I’m sure it would be a big step toward a better world.

  2. Envy. Envy blocks personal growth. After all, why improve yourself and put in effort when you’re busy being angry and blaming others out of jealousy? It creates resentment: I hate you because I don’t have what you have. It leads to unfair judgment: people judge without knowing how someone got what they have. Sabotage and chronic dissatisfaction: if someone has what you don’t and it becomes a constant thought, you see it as unfair, so why not sabotage it and ruin what they have? It can even lead to fake relationships: I hate and envy you but pretend everything’s fine, either because I have to (at work) or because I try to gain something from you.

  3. Hypocrisy. It’s something I really can’t stand. First of all, it destroys trust and relationships (friendship, work, family), because it constantly creates doubts about what’s true or false. You don’t know whether to trust someone, and relationships end up weakening or falling apart. It’s also a way of spreading dishonesty: it makes something appear different from what it really is, making it hard to understand people’s true intentions. Hypocrisy also prevents personal growth: those who are hypocritical often avoid facing their own flaws or mistakes. And if we extend it to a whole group, it feeds suspicion, manipulation, and tension among people.

These are the three behaviors I would eliminate, although an honorable mention also goes to selfishness, lack of empathy, unprovoked aggression, and laziness.

These cause many problems indeed, and I too, wish them to be eradicated, including laziness, as I'm often guilty of it, lol!

Greed, yeah, 24/7 we are on the thirst for more, and more, no matter how much we have.

On my list, "telling lies" would have been at the top. I think this is the root of everything. If we could stop telling lies, then doing other unethical stuff would have been eradicated naturally.

What do you think?

I think that stopping telling lies would be good, but wouldn't stop murderers or thieves because the bad actions would still be done
