My Actifit Report Card: May 31 2025

I used to walk by the seaside early in the morning in the Philippines. It was so refreshing, and the sand was still untouched, with no footprints yet. Sometimes the fishermen would return from the sea and give away fish to the first person they saw. It’s a belief that if they give first, they’ll have good sales during the day. One time, they saw me and gave me a ball of small shrimps, which I cooked in coconut milk ☺️
Oh that's pretty cool! Fish is pretty expensive expecially wild from sea, so no one is gonna gift it 🤣 but you can pick crabs on your own or clams
!PIZZA
Yum, crabs or clams.
There is a creepy recipe with crabs, typical of Venezia, super expensive like 30€/kg
Fried Soft-Shell Crabs (Moeche) – Traditional Venetian Style with Egg
Ingredients (for 4 servings):
8 live soft-shell crabs (moeche)
3 fresh eggs
All-purpose flour
Salt
Vegetable oil for frying (peanut or sunflower recommended)
Instructions:
Prepare the crabs:
Use only live soft-shell crabs (shortly after molting). Do not clean them yet. Rinse gently in cold water.
Place the live crabs in a bowl with beaten eggs. Let them sit in the eggs for about 2 to 3 hours.
During this time, the crabs will absorb (or "drink") the egg through their soft shell, making them plumper and richer in flavor.
Remove the crabs from the bowl and dust them lightly with flour on both sides.
Heat the oil in a frying pan (about 170–180°C / 340–355°F).
Fry the crabs a few at a time, about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with salt, and serve hot.
Oh dear, owwww, poor crab. Imagine they think they are just having a milk bath treat, then they get boiled to death? But this is very ordinary in a few places, cooking while alive for freshness. But you know there's a restaurant here that sells crispy soft shell crab, and it is soooo nice! Not expensive either! Next time I go, I will take a photo and send you. But I will be thinking of this recipe while I eat it. 🙄
Yea it's creepy with them alive, the original recipe is like this but often they do it with dead crabs, skipping the them eating part
That seems about the same, my colleagues say also it's the best thing ever, I never tried as it's super expensive and rare to find some months a year when crabs change the shell
Looks like power machines prints on the first picture. I guess those are used on the beach for entertainment right?
Those on the right are cabinets where you can dress /undress, then far left there is a bar for drinks and ice creams
!PIZZA
Ohhh I didn't even consider the cabinet on the right, I was fascinated by the track on the beach sand
Ah the track on the sand are the tractors passing in the early morning to clean the beach from garbage/wood/algae or whatever else makes the beach dirty
