Valuable Lessons Learnt

avatar

One of the things about life is the opportunity it presents to learn lessons and gain new knowledge. Surely, the measures or platforms for learning these lessons are not palatable—and truly so, it normally isn't a pleasurable experience. Some of these lessons might cost one a fortune—time, resources, relationships and a whole lot. Noteworthy is that, these lessons can come in diverse forms, and through diverse persons—friends, relatives, family and the many others.

Some realisations have put my thoughts in the place where I came to understand that some of such lessons about life can come around without even our realisations, maybe till a long time after. Sometimes after some days, months, year or years, long time to conceive and gain the lesson. Other times, these will even be pointed out by other individuals, directly or indirectly rather than discovering it ourselves.

Life is filled with a lot of things—certainties and uncertainties, and in whatever case they present a platform to learn new things or reshape perspectives. Lessons we learnt in life might have come through disappointments, failures, surprises, favours, unexpected situations. They say, "experience is the best teacher". I think well enough that experiences have a huge role in dishing us the life lessons we need to learn. Through these experiences, we become redefined and renewed in the understanding of certain matters.

Through my sojourn in my life, I've learnt a quite number of important lessons. A lot by experiences and a lot also by observation and knowledge. Some situations won't afford us the opportunity to experience them to learn the needed lessons. A close peek and observation into some particular happenings will provide such lessons.

An important life lesson I've come to learn and hold on to is in respect with time. Time is one of the precious resource life offers, and how you use it is dependent on you. I've come to learn that time will never always be enough, it is never early to start something and it is never late to also start. Through gained knowledge, experiences and observation, this became a worthy lesson. The narrative was different while I was younger, but I guess I've come to learn it right.

One key lesson I've come to learn is that peace in life is the best form of satisfaction and happiness one can have. We would argue then that what one ultimately needed to be satisfied in life was money. But no, today the lesson is different. I've heard of people with money and all that one can acquire in life wallow in despair and sorrow because they have no peace. Peace is kind of underrated, but it's a big deal. So, this I've come to learn.

You're responsible for yourself. Yes, you are. That's another important lesson. We might have suffered some setbacks through the actions or inactions of others, but ultimately, we have to take responsibility for our lives and not let others take it. Guess why? It's your life not theirs. I've learnt to bounce back from every setback caused by others, even if not me because it's my own life here. Also, you're responsible for your happiness, not someone out there. Don't base it on others, learn to find joy and happiness within yourself. Yes, that I learnt as well.
