Managing Digital Pet Peeves
As much as the digital world and digital life is enticing and captivating, it can be pretty annoying sometimes. Talk of times when you're trying to hard to carry out and finish up a task online, then some of these annoying stuff keep coming up. A number of these digital pet peeves I come across almost always. But what can we do about them? Sometimes the systems of the platforms are designed to make them so, and as much as we need to use those platforms, we're caught up in their annoyances.
While many can be without remedy; to say you just have to endure them, some come with some sort of remedies presented. But then, at what cost? I've come to consider and question, why are these things not just set aside since there are remedies to them? Well, the developers have the answer to that. Also, they might have there gains with or through them.
Some of such digital pet peeves I consider is the unwelcomed, unannounced Ad segments on a YouTube video. I can't say how much annoying it is to come across nothing less than five Ads in a ten minutes video. I mean, that's enough for me to loose focus and interest of whatever it is I'm doing. But yeah, there's a remedy, huh? Get your account a premium standard. And that we know will cost something for the user. So then, the Ads we're stuck with.
Spam messages is one other I can't fail to mention. Why should I be constantly receiving messages for what I didn't sign up for? Nearly a day gets by—I guess it doesn't happen even—that I don't get one or two of such messages. So, it's like a constant cycle of receiving and deleting such messages. Sometimes I could end up having a chunk of them in my message box that I have no choice but to engage in the deleting duties. Same with spam emails too, though I hardly get those.
The constant unending flow of notifications. It's hardly not annoying to be in the middle of something important and then some needless notifications just keep popping up. I know there's the DND feature, but sometimes the work I might be on would require that the feature be left turned off. But even when the DND is employed, I have to come back later, checking and swiping off unneeded notifications.
One that pisses me off much is those redirections to another site while trying to download or even just engage with a site. I do imagine if that was some kind of collaboration with the redirected sites; so they get some sort of visits and traffic while the other site benefits in some way? Or it's just some digital annoying efforts. It has always been an annoying situation. A simple task or download that should take two to three minutes will end up taking more than five minutes. The constant back and forth to reach that desired result can be tiring.
The digital world, as mentioned can be so amazing and welcoming, yet some of these digital pet peeves can set it in a place where it could become annoying as well. But then, the world is digital, so I guess some of these things will just have to be condoned with or solved/avoided where they can be.
