Around Elbow Falls

avatar
(Edited)

One of the stops during our Summer vacation / hiking excursions was Elbow Falls. It was a quick stop, but certainly worthwhile. Elbow Falls is about a half hour west of Calgary, Alberta. The water was a pretty turquoise colour, originating from Elbow Lake, located further west from here. We were able to walk around the perimeter and get some decent photos. Interesting to note, the Elbow river supplies about 14% of Alberta’s clean water. Did you get a chance to visit any water falls last Summer?

Such a beautiful place! Haven't visited any waterfalls in a long time, although we often come across small ones in the wilderness around here.

Like this one is a tributary of the Elwha River, deep in the woods... cool because you can sometimes see salmon jumping to get upstream.

Good thing I asked. Initially, I thought it was around 15-20 degrees Celsius because of the conifers. 😅

Thanks for the info.

Beautiful place, why do we have so many tall trees around these hiking areas?

That is pretty normal for the Canadian west. Thanks.

What a gorgeous spot! Those eroded caves are pretty cool. The fact that the big one is full of old fallen trees tells you that it's not always a gentle flow like right now. Beautiful though, you got some great shots!

I would like to head back there in June, when the river is much higher, that would be an awesome trip actually. Thanks for stopping by.

Western Canada is such a great place to live, I hear the east coast is also very pretty, but it is really far away! Thanks @shoemanchu.
