Nothing about this headline should be the least bit surprising to anyone. I'm not saying that the FBI doesn't do any good work but that fact doesn't make up for the complete disregard they seem to have for basic civil rights and the privacy of Americans. The FBI routinely conducts warrantless searches and they often do it for reasons that aren't even very good (as if there were good ones to begin with). Given the way FISA is written, or at least the way the FBI interprets it, they can spy on pretty much every American at will "incidentally".

It only gets worse. Now that FISA has been reauthorized (under the guise of "reform"), the FBI is doubling down on their behavior. Now they want to spy on Americans just to prove that they can find stuff. While the technology looks a little different, we've effectively achieved Orwellian levels of surveillance. As long as there aren't enough people who care, it will only get worse from here.
