Moving Coleus plant Indoors

With the temperatures falling to near freezing, we moved all of the plants indoors from the back porch. I have a beautiful Coleus plant that is a vibrant light red to pink in color which is starting to bloom.

The plant did have a lot of green in the leaves about a month ago but with the falling temperatures the leaves just starting turning more red with the green going away almost totally.

After brining it in last week, the plant started to bloom. The blooms are on a spike and are light blue to purple in color. The color of the bloom against the color of the leaves is very pretty.

Each one of the stalks is starting to put out blooms. Last year I had thought this plant died since we had it out on the back porch during the hottest of the summer months. While we were gone on vacation all of the various stems died because it did not receive any water.

Thinking it was dead, we did not water it anymore but since it was on the back porch, it received water if it rained any. When fall started, we noticed that it had started growing again so we started watering it again.

Now I can't believe how nice it has recovered and looks so healthy. I am going to read up on the plant to learn more about it so that I can maybe start some new ones from the seeds or a cutting. That is if I can make sure it survives the winter indoors and I keep it watered. LOL
