Laundry- the never ending story

Early to bed, early to rise.

Now that I am back home, It's time to start my day productively.

The laundry is a never ending story, endlessly washing clothes and putting them in baskets, numerous baskets, for lack of dresser space, or hangars in the closet. Or perhaps its lack of time.

How many clothes do I even wear? This question could be insulting to the wrong person, but for me I can self reflect and say that usually I wear my white dress shirts. I have about 5 right now, two of which have smaller necks (16.5) than the others (17.5).

Then I have about 300 socks. I buy a bag of crew socks from walmart every year, it's important to have fresh, dry & warm socks to wear, in the summer and the winter. We Canadians take our shoes off in the house, and we also wear socks year round.

So, I have my dress shirts, and dress pants, underwear and socks. I have a LOT of ties, I say sometimes that girls collect many shoes but men collect many ties. I do at least, and while I have a lot of choice, I do tend to wear the same ones often. Certain occasions demand the black tie, simple and professional.

Other times I want to look flashier, so I wear my gold one, or my sparkly red/blue one. I even have purple, blue and green. Counting how many ties I have is low priority on my 'Laundry Audit' list.

What do I need to get rid of?

- Clothes that don't fit.

- Clothes that are not mine.

- Clothes that I have never worn.

I wore this old tshirt I like yesterday, but it's got holes and the back is torn away from the neck sleeve. But then the cat was puking so grabbed it off the floor quick, I used it as a rag to catch the hairball vomit. Should I re-wash, or trash it?

Once I determine what clothing I can part with, hopefully I can get some new clothes, that fit, feel comfortable, and look good. But I can't do that when the laundry is never endingly washing things I never use, and even I can admit that I don't wear a lot of these things anymore. I must bag them & donate them!

This summer I bought a new suit, satin and shiny. Feels amazing, but I need another. Ideally I would like 5 nice suits and 7 loose fitting dress shirts. I would trade all my old rag torn clothes and even some socks to have my dream wardrobe. 4 nice suits and shirts will cost me between 1000 and 2000 CAD.

It is 7:30am, will I make any progress today on my laundry, or dishes?

Wow, what you shared is really one of the most tedious aspects of taking care of a home or people, the part about doing laundry... it's very tedious haha
