My hobby journey
Good day fellow hivers, the topic before me is about hobbies. How important are hobbies to humans? What are the roles of hobbies?Do they change as we grow up? Stay with me as I delve into my personal hobby story.Hobbies are particular to individuals and they vary on a wide spectrum of choices.
Among the various ones we have, one thing stands firm, pleasure. Hobbies are the activities an individual engages in, during leisure time for pleasure. It’s a sort of activity in which the soul delights and finds it as a comfort zone for consciousness. It’s the kind of activity in which someone doesn’t need to be good at, really know how to, but does it always. We have popular ones, like writing, swimming, movies, reading and others. Hobbies aren’t work. Even though they may look like it. It’s not something you do for survival or to make money, just that activity that makes you happy whenever you engage in it. Meanwhile, you can structure it for income generation.Growing up, my first hobby was football.
As a young boy, that’s what I could lay my hands on. It was an advantage to show my mates that I’m smart and agile. After a while, I started acting in drama. This was when I was in senior classes in my primary school. I love imitating people. Being in the drama group is the best way to imitate and also entertain people at the same time. During my secondary school, I was part of the drama heads. I was very talented at it.Once I’m on the stage, it’s like being in the spotlight and I internalized this belief that everyone has come to see me act. Something like a mini celebrity. I know I wasn’t going to do it for long. Acting isn't something I would want to do as a professional.
This was my last before I started reflecting on my personality.I haven’t been a serious person academically since secondary school. I just lost my taste for academics. It affected me badly, I couldn’t help myself. I stumbled in school and had an extra year. Then I got reading.Pick up books and read them a lot during the day. I got fascinated and wondered how authors could really be good at illuminating people’s minds in such a way. Merely by words. It makes me admire writing and reading. I see it as a lifelong precious thing to do. Instantly I became obsessed. A day does not go by that I don’t try to read something new or write something. Most times I don’t post or publish but I keep it safe.
This particular hobby- combination of reading and writing helps my mind a lot. It helps my thinking pattern and I’m able to monitor my gap in knowledge. Whilst I may have changed hobbies in the course of my life journey, I believe if I had earlier gone into reading and writing, I wouldn't have tried out other hobbies. In our journey, we go through discovery in different parts of life. My Hobbies can change over time. The point is for it to be seen as a recreational course for pleasure, which one engages in while being in their comfort zone. For others, they may discover their hobby early in life and it becomes static. This is mostly for painters and others involved in artistic activities. It’s a divine thing and they often stick to it.Not everyone will go through this route and it’s okay. A lot of others may keep changing their hobby from time to time. For example, a person who loves to run may not be able to do that when he/she gets older because of age. They may in turn have to change their hobby because they can’t engage it in their comfort zone again.

Your point about hobbies changing over time is also valid. People's interests and abilities evolve, and it's okay to explore new activities and passions.

Yeah I agree that hobbies change from time to time. It’s my first time knowing someone actually liked imitating people. I guess that’s how acting starts
Yes, I still do it, even unintentionally. Most of our mannerism are picked after people we liked. Some of us just operate on higher dimension.
