Mimosa pudica is a creeping annual or perennial flowering plant in the family of Fabaceae
Description
This stem is erect in young plants.it can hang very low and become floppy.The stem is slender, branching, growing up to length of 1.5m (5ft).
The leaves are bipinnately compound with one or two pinnae pairs,and 10-26 leaflets per pinna.They are also called sleepy grass,action plant, touch-me-not, touch and die or shame plant.
The touch-me-not plant protects itself against herbivores by folding it's leaves inward upon touching.Because of it's fast movement it scares away animals.The leaves need about 30 minutes to open again.The touch-me-not can also be grown indoors.
Benefits of Mimosa pudica (touch-me-not)
Touch-me-not is loaded with anti venom properties making it useful in the ancient time for snake,cobra and scorpions bites.For minor insects bites the leaves are applied to the affected area.
It also cure disease like cancer, diabetes, hepatitis,obesity and urinary infections.
Note: The plant should be avoided by pregnant or people who planning to get pregnant as the plant is used to prevent pregnancy
