Helitropium indicum
Helitropium indicum commonly known as the indian heliotrope is erect,thick annual or perennial herb with hirsute ascending branches, reaching between 20 and 60cm in height.
Use of Helitropium indicum
It is ussed as traditional drugs for gout, inflammation,skin disorders, menstrual dysfunction etc
The extracted juice is used on wounds,skin disease and eye drop for conjunctivitis.
They are also used to beautify gardens, containers and landscape.
In nigeria,in the yoruba tribe tye helitropium indicum is used as agbo infusion for fever.while the igbo tribe,the leaf decoction as a wash for feverish child.
Note: All parts of the plants contain pyrrolidine Alkaloids (PAs) which is highly toxic and can cause harm to the liver.usage should be once in a while under the watch of a professional guide.
