I joined the Val + Leo power up day (LPUD)
Ok, so yesterday was Valentine's Day. I am not much of a party guy anyway. My friends know about this so they hardly bother to invite me over on such occasions. This habit can be traced down to my childhood days when my Mom will always refuse me to be part of a school get together party at the end of the term. It was always one bitter experience, one that will cause me to shed secret tears. You wouldn't want my Mom to find you crying on this matter, she will help you out in another dimension, Hahaha.
But come to think about it, it wasn't fun at all, I will be going to school for the complete term and I won't be allowed to join in the party. Anyway, I have grown up to be a beneficiary of that practice, this doesn't mean parents should not allow their children to get involved at get togethers, it is always a fun moment. It is just that my own case was different. My Mom's message was clear, I am not training you for parties. Copied that Mom, so I grew up abstaining from parties and I wasn't bothered. It helped shape my future and friends around me. I don't like drinking and eating at public places, the shyness is still there till date.
Let me just pause a little to make you aware that today is 15th February, 2024. Of course it's not Valentine's day, that was yesterday. So what is special about today? Oh! Are you asking? Every 15th of the month is a D-day over here. Maybe I will just overlook the fact that you are a newbie or you were so busy that your reminder was not good enough to keep you updated. Today is Leo ⇪ Day×; LPUD to make be more precise. There is always a lot going on in the InLeo frontend today. The idea is to help strengthen this community as we show trust and support for this project.

That said, let's head back to yesterday's Valentine's Day experience. So I was in church on Sunday and there was an official announcement about a family get together to celebrate Valentine's day. The idea was to teach both couples and the upcoming youth the proper way to celebrate Val. You know many of us always jump into something we know little to nothing about. In the end, most of our celebration always ends in drunkenness, lust and the rest. Everyone will be talking of romance on a Val day yet the truth remains that the entire process is no way near.
Firstly, one will have to understand the history behind it. St. Valentine was martyred on the 14th of February during the reign of Emperor Claudius II. The Emperor was interested in more soldiers for his military so he made a degree that youth should not be engaged in marriages. You can see human greed playing out here; he was interested in power and neglected what God ordained from the beginning to take effect. man has proven to be one self centered creation, we seem to love oppression.
This was where this Catholic priest entered the picture, St. Valentine was spending his time conducting many secret marriages and was finally caught, the penalty was death. So what do we learn from here? From my own view, I see a day set aside to reflect how a man puts his effort to make sure God's promise for mankind prevails. In the absence of proper marriage one can attest that it would have brought about a high rate of formication during that generation.
To conclude, let me add, I will not be able to draw the entire curtain concerning this in one article. I was dressed in red yesterday yet my own red was 'a different red'. It wasn't just about gift exchanges, flowers and the rest. It was a stand that God's word will continue to prevail. It was a fun moment in church with so many fun activities and rewards in the process. I learnt a lot from those who have been in the corridor of marriage. The preacher also added sensitive words which will definitely add to my growth. We had a refreshment time also, sorry you missed out, maybe I will invite you early enough during next year's Val. Till then, learn how to express the proper love; 'a different kind of red'.
