Eve beyond my imagining

I never saw this one coming, how the year can run so fast I assume that you forget some activities that are likely to align during the Christmas season. Today is Christmas Eve and how I forgot we do have our local church gathering to go through some special Christmas hymns.

Personally, what really drew my attention to church was the fact that today is midweek service and adding to that, it will be our last cell meeting of our prayer group ahead of 2026. Nothing bad to make sure I attend; something that happenS an hour before the normal mid-week service.

Ok, when I stepped in I saw the main choir well dressed ahead of time. I wasn't surprised because it's Christmas Eve anyway but how it escaped my mind was something I was just imagining. The environment of the service wasn't as the general midweek; the number of attendance was much with so many choir units in attendance.

It was a service of so many bible reading from the fall of man in Genesis 3 to the promised redemption in the book of Isaiah to the Angels visit to Mary in Mathew, the appearance of the Angels to the Shepherds, the visit of the magi who followed the star and the final exposition in John 1.

One of the things I cherished were the hymns in-between, it drew my attention to some fine Christmas tunes. Methodist hymn books can astonish you.

O COME, O come, Immanuel, And ransom captive Israel, That mourns in lonely exile here Until the son of God appear. Rejoice! Rejoice! Immanuel Shall come to thee, O Israel. Methodist hymn 257 (1st stanzas)

When you hear the melody of this tuning under the right vocals and instruments it can draw you into another atmosphere of reference. It was my TOP pick in ALL the rendered hymns.

I had to also appreciate our main choir for a song rendition I scarcely hear but wholesomely appreciate. Ever heard of ‘Sing Lullaby?’ I guess the song topic should be ‘The infant King’. I had to listen to it over again from a YouTube video even as I was crafting this article. With the right voice and instruments, you can pick a lot from this song.

Other songs did follow; ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, ‘Still the night, Holy night’, ‘While shepherds watched their flocks by night’, ‘Love came down at Christmas’ and ‘O come all ye faithful’ (Methodist hymns 257, 117, 123, 129, 138 and 118 respectively) and others that made my Christmas Eve experience worthwhile.

To conclude, how pleasant can a Christmas Eve be than fine tuning your spirit with melodies that reflect the divine purpose and manifestation of God's promise; The Christ. Personally, it has cheered up my spirit, something I never saw coming. Adding to that, the sermon was in alignment with what I have been trying to send out to Christian followers worldwide. I am happy it is not only me that has the burdens that go beyond eating and drinking every Christmas season.

There is a need to reflect on true purpose; John 3:16.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him SHALL NOT PERISH but have eternal life.

Let's keep celebrating this divine gift with a happy heart mixed with divine fear and trembling; I hope you are making the most of your CHRISTMAS EVE.
